You could try http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_redirect -to redirect the user to another page. Add the function to the very top of search.php. You can retrieve the user input (search query) with: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/get_search_query

Hi! I'm just about ready to launch an awesome site using the enfold theme and lastly, my client wants to know if there is a way I can edit the search function.php (or code somewhere) so I can do a search of inventory on a different site (their back end) which is this:
http://www.ecinteractive.com/5874/EnhancedSearch.aspx?clear=1&keywords=Armoires+%26+Bookcases&newSearch=true

There must be a way I can edit the function.php so I can just route it to the backend search and use the key words input and do a search like:
http://www.ecinteractive.com/5874/EnhancedSearch.aspx?clear=1&keywords=Text From Wordpress Search]+%26+[Text From Wordpress Search]&newSearch=true

Any suggestions? I would be so deeply appreciated for any help!!!

Thank YOU!!

Hi Devin thanks for your reply,

I'm not PHP expert, but with some code moving here and there and changing some names of the classes it can be done, and that's not that hard for people who can read and write PHP. It just took me 3 days to figure it out. There was no custom code ... it's all theme code.

Hi Arnaudov,

It isn't really possible for us to debug custom pages/code via support. For one, we don't have the code and two we just aren't familiar with individual developers practices and implementation.

If you are having issues, your best route would be posting on stack exchange or something like that with your full code and issue.

Regards,

Hi,

Sorry for the delay , the fault is mine. You can upload a screen shot to your Dropbox, Google Drive, Imgur.com, clipular.com or a number of other free image upload websites.

You can use one of the free plugins to extend the search like http://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/ or others in here http://wordpress.org/plugins/tags/better-search

Wow great idea -- drop down search filtering -- love it! But, wouldn't a interactive map be more visual? Sorry I always look for ways to replace text with or at least mixed with a visual aid (people are naturally drawn to pictures versus text).

is it possible to create search result page for my custom post types like default search but instead circled numbering to have post thumbnail for my custom post type and i cant get the pagination to work. The results are printed but pagination is not showing.

Thanks Dude, this partially works, or perhaps I wasn't very clear in my initial request.

Example if the search box (top right in header) is used to forthe search, it generates a horizontal search result with title/excerpt and the new 'read more' text which is great, however, if the WP catagory search widget is used then the result is image/excerpt but no 'read more' text, this is the search result that I'd really like, can this be done?

Yes sure - you can add your code to wp-content\themes\enfold\includes\loop-search.php. Eg for a read more button replace:

the_excerpt()

with

the_excerpt();
echo '<div class="read-more-link"><a href="'.get_permalink($the_id).'" class="more-link">'.__('Read more','avia_framework').'<span class="more-link-arrow">  &rarr;</span></a></div>';

Hi there, is there anyway to change the look of posts when they've been collated after a search? i.e. if I search for a post I get the Freatured Image and excerpt. I'd like to add other elements to the way the search results appear perhaps a simple 'contact' or 'read more' link or button.

Hello,

I have reviewed your page and ran into the same issue. If you are looking to align the search box with the search button, insert the following code into the quick css field:

input-text, input[type="text"], input[type="input"], input[type="password"], input[type="email"], textarea, select {
    display: inline-block;
}

I have successfully completed this here: http://websitesbeyond.com/support

Hey Neemke,

While it is possible, it would take a good bit of customization to the search.php file (in the theme files). You could try searching for a plugin to modify search results or even a widget+plugin that can add a new product only search option to your sidebars that will then display results similar to the image you linked.

Please try to switch to the default wordpress theme. If this solves the issue it's a bug in the search query. If not it's probably a bug with WooCommerce + WPML. In this case please report the bug to the WPML devs.

Hello guys,
i am not sure if this is really replete bug, anyway while using the product search in the header the outcome of this action is that there will nothing be shown in the search results as the output address is: http://bigamy.cz/?s=some&lang=en
when the search is done without the langu description everything works fine.
any hints to this?

Hello Devin,

I am terribly sorry for this. I neglected the advice I always give my clients when something doesn't work:

CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE & COOKIES AND SEE IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS!

Hi OliverSill,

I'm not getting any errors in Chrome, Firefox or IE when testing. Is there any specific steps we can take to try and replicate the error?

Regards,
