Hi!

It seems like someone hacked your website. Check the functions.php - probably they added "bad code" to this file.

Solved. The ad was an extension of Pagerank which I did install many a long year ago. It is an extension for Chrome only and tells you the Pagerank of the site you are currently viewing. I was easily able to disable the ad.
Thanks.

It's not actually in the footer. It's in the section under the footer.
At the bottom of the ad it reads: This ad is supporting your extension Pagerank.
I haven't added this extension. Just Yoast SEO. But I did allow tracking.

Hey

Yesterday I created a test account on my site using my black.heart89@btinternet.com email address.

In the early hours of this morning that same email address sent out a spam email to everyone in my contacts. What's weird is that in the link it says wp and mentions the akismet plugin which I have activated on my site.

Have you heard of this before and could it be linked to creating an account? The last thing I want is for everyone who creates an account having the same thing happen.

Kind regards

Hello boudoirs,

First install this great plugin to prevent spam crawlers/bots to find any email address you may have published on your website:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-mail-address-encoder/

Then as spam blocker you could use this great plugin to prevent automated comment spam and local spam, no need for crap CAPTCHA either ;)

p.s. if you gonna use this plugin other comment spam plugins will cause false positives, so it is best to disable all of them, including Akismet.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/spam-free-wordpress/

I know that Formidable does No. 1 + 2 - you can add a (re)captcha to the contact form(s) and you can add the browser agent data to your emails.

Hey,
it seems like you're using a Mailguard plugin (I searched the theme files and couldn't find the Mailguard function so I assume it's a plugin. It inserts following code in the head area:

function MailGuard(mailbox,domain){
 str="<a href='mailto:"+mailbox+"@"+domain+"'>"+mailbox+"@"+domain+"</a>";
 document.write(str);
 }

Try to deactivate it - this should solve the problem.

Hello

I use Newcast theme on my new blog version ( slightly tuned : http://blog.aube-nature.com ) and I receive since several days, numbers of spams from the contact or the submit news forms...

Have you a simple solution to kill spam ?

With my best regards

Cédric, from France

You can use Contact Form 7 or cformsII (wordpress plugins) - they provide a captcha feature.

Hi, using Newscast. I'm starting to get spam coming in through the contact form.
Is there a way to add a captcha or something else to stop autocompletion of the form?
