okay, since I'm also using this widget in pages-sidebar area, they also turn white there which is also the bg-color.

is there any way to split the color-allocations for the latest-news-headlines or do i have to remove the widget in one area?

Hi,

thx Devin & TechShad for the codes.

In fact both work but if I also add the...

#top strong {
color: black ;
}

... unfortunately the headlines in the footer (I'm using Enfold Latest News widget) also turn from white to black, which make them illegible.

Any ideas how I can fix that as well? thx!

Hey there,

Enfold is a great piece of work! I love it.

Just one question:
I'd like to highlight some text in the main content, just making it bold.
Unfortunately bold text becomes couloured (scheme colour; red in my case) automatically on every page. I want to have bold words in the default black-textcolor only. Otherwise thely look like hyperlinks...

How can I fix that issue?

Thx in advance!

Thanks Devin:

I'll experiment. Right now, the biggest problem is the button hovers are incorrect after I removed all custom CSS and changed styling options back to a default, so something (possibly a plugin) is messing with it.

When I've figured it out I will report back.

The color picking function actually has a hidden component that picks a complimentary color for certain hover effects so that it cuts down on the amount of choices anyone needs to make. As always css can be added in to control anything but for the most part the Styling tab takes care of everything anyone needs.

There definitely could be a plugin causing conflicts so try disabling all active ones and see if that helps. Also understand that the relationship between shortcodes and the theme styles is fairly separate except for some font colors and styles if you are using google fonts.

If you have any caching plugin definitely turn it off while you are doing back and forth changes to the colors and settings and refresh the page a few times in a row if it seems like something isn't taking effect (to force refresh the cache.

Thanks Devin. The site's behind a password at the moment. Is there any way to send that without it being in the public forum?

As a follow-on to this question, I am really finding the colour picker that's integrated into the choices colour scheme settings difficult to use/understand. This may sound really thick, but I don't have a clue what the relationship between the two colour swatches in the picker are? Am I able to set two colours (foreground / background) for each of the settings (Default background color, Alternate Background for menu hover, tables, etc) or is this just an artifact of the colour picker you're using and it really is only one colour per piece? Baffling, really.

Some colours seem to come from nowhere, so I was hoping that I was just maybe using the color picker incorrectly. For example, all of my button hover states are totally wrong, and don't match what I thought I selected for Highlight color... <sigh>

Also, even when I set the colours to a default scheme (Blue, Gradients Grey etc) all of my shortcode generated buttons get messed up. The text colors don't match what they did with the dummy content shortcodes page and the hover states are totally weird. Could this be a plugin that's messing with it?

Hi ilowelife,

Not all elements around the theme will be able to be customized with the options available in the Styling section. For the most part everything is grouped together and able to be changed but there will be some small specific elements that may not.

If you can give us a link to the page and point out specifically what isn't getting styling applied and what option you are using in the back end to apply a color to it, we can see if its a bug that needs fixing.

Hello:

I am trying to use the style options to adjust the text colors/colours of the header region but am finding that the colours I set are not being applied to all of the elements in those areas. For example, the div with the classes
small_header_info meta-color
in the header does not get the colour applied. Nor does the nav menu.

I can hack the css for it, but I would say it's really a bug and detracts from the theme's effectiveness.

Hi nancyso,

I can't say for sure why it didn't work the same as in other instances but there are a few javascript errors visible when inspecting with Chrome and there could be a complication there (though unlikely).

For the footer, it depends on what you want to edit exactly. Most things can be targeted by using the widget ID for that item. So using your choice of code inspection (firebug or Chrome/Safari's built in inspectors) you would inspect the blog feed you have in your column 4 and target it like:

#community_news-2 p {
font-size: 12px;
}

Since the widget has a specific ID of #community_news-2 and you want to change the paragraph style.

Regards,

Devin

I am using the default style, so I am assuming it is style1.css and it is picking up skin1 images (there is no skin1.css). I found the code you suggested I add in the css already. This is how it is listed:

'#wrapper_featured_area, #wrapper_footer_top{
background: transparent url("../images/skin1/bg_grain.png") repeat-x bottom center;
}'

I would think "transparent" should allow the theme color I selected display. It seems to be doing so on the subpages' footers. Nevertheless, changing this to my desired color worked. Thanks!

Just curious: I have used the theme before and I didn't have this issue. Why isn't it picking up the color of the background color I have set thru the theme and why is it different than all the other page footers?

One more question: where can I find the text attributes for the footer text?

Hi,

Are you using skin1? If so please add this at the very bottom of css > skin1.css

#wrapper_featured_area, #wrapper_footer_top {
background: gray url("../images/skin1/bg_grain.png") repeat-x bottom center;
}

Just change the gray color to the color of your theme.

Regards,

My homepage footer is displaying differently than all my other pages' footers. Please take a look: http://www.dataccount.com

I didn't touch the css, just used the options within the theme to change the color.

Thanks

Devin,

Thanks for this - but seems like a lot of work to simply have bold text that is colored. Maybe this can be fixed in the next version?

I'll give it a shot though - really appreciate your time.

Hi Chris,

It isn't quite a bug but more proper markup. Usually, common elements are styled using classes that have the same few properties and values so that they can be stacked on top of each other to create individual page elements.

What you'll need to do is use an FTP program like Filezilla (which is free) to access your server and theme files. Then in the following file:

http://brainsarefun.com/wp-content/themes/abundance/css/minimal-skin.css

You will search for:

.post-entry-portfolio-first strong, .entry-content strong{
color:#333;
}

and replace it with:

.post-entry-portfolio-first strong, .entry-content strong{
}

Then save the file back on your server in the exact same spot so that it replaces the current file.

Regards,
