Hey Kristen! Would you mind telling me which images you want to resize?

Basically there is one big array of images sizes in functions.php, each one has a description and you just need to change the pixel values for height and width. After that is done, for each image that you will upload from that moment wordpress will create a thumbnail of appropriate size. (This solution doesnt change images that were already uploaded)

I would like to know how to resize my shop page images and my product page images as well! The settings in the admin dashboard for the theme are not working very well and combing through pages of code that I'm not familiar with seems daunting.

I've tried numerous solutions mentioned in this forum; all I can tell is that the cropping on the product page seems to be from the settings of the lightbox on that page, not the size setting of images, themselves. It has both my designer and my programmer stumped at the moment.

And, in the process of making these difference adjustments to the CSS and stuff, I've now got extra-tiny thumbnail images on the category page and product page.

Would it be possible for one of the admin's to address all the various image settings -- the size, thumbnail size, gallery lightbox, and product page lightbox -- settings and make a sticky post in the forum, so this info is easy to find?

Everything else in this theme is so intuitive, it seems like the imagery should be more accessible...

Thanks in advance :)

hey, thanks for your replay.
I've been trying to change the imgae dimension in functions.php, and I could chnage the all the image dimensions except product image.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find value for product thumbnail on functions.php.

$avia_config['imgSize']['widget'] = array('width'=>77, 'height'=>77 );
// small preview pics eg sidebar news
$avia_config['imgSize']['post-format-image'] = array('width'=>630, 'height'=>999, 'crop'=>false);
// big images for post format image and gallery posts
// images for portfolio entries (2,3,4 column)

//dynamic columns
$avia_config['imgSize']['dynamic_1'] = array('width'=>446, 'height'=>151);
// images for 2/4 (aka 1/2) dynamic portfolio columns when using 3 columns
$avia_config['imgSize']['dynamic_2'] = array('width'=>609, 'height'=>210);

I just found the value on confing.php(/config-woocommerce), and changed the value like below, and still cropped automatically...

//product thumbnails
$avia_config['imgSize']['shop_single'] = array('width'=>450, 'crop'=>false);
avia_backend_add_thumbnail_size($avia_config);

I did what you suggested above and then tried deleting the products and creating them again. Since it is not my shop catalog page is there something else I can do?

Hey,
You can change the slideshow/image dimensions in functions.php (I'd only adjust the height value). Afterwards regenerate the thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

You can add the crop => false/true parameter to (de)activate cropping...

Hey,

1.) I can't reproduce this error in FireFox or any other browser. Can you post the browser version and the title of a link which has the problem?

2.) Open up index.php, find and remove this code:

<span class="comments ie6fix"><?php comments_popup_link(__('No Comments','newscast'), __('1 Comment','newscast'), __('% Comments','newscast')); ?></span>

3.) Yes, you can adjust the size of the images in functions.php. Bear in mind that adjusting the image sizes will cause layout problems which need to be corrected with CSS.

4.) It looks like you have a conflict with the Disqus plugin. We can't support 3rd party plugins, however disabling the plugin should fix the problem.

Hi, i am a newbie so apology if i am not posting correctly or if my issues sounds silly but i need some help on my blog http://www.blogdiviaggi.com with the following:

- "Menu Manager Pages" can not be opened with Firefox, i can only see the tab's titles but when i click on them nothing happen (works fine with explorer)
- how can i remove from the homepage on each post the "view comment" from each preview? this is because i would like to display the author nickname on the same line as per the date
- is that any way to make the thumbnail image preview of each post bigger (if you check my blog you could see how the preview pict in the posts aligned on two columns are quite small)
- how can i change the footer of my blog and adding a section "contribute"? at the moment is a bit of a mess
- if you go on the comment section on each post it seems is not working, guess there is some plugin in conflict.
- is there any way to include an hyperlink to each image when using the one with cc on flickr? i am currently using lightbox plus and photo dropper but i have to add it manually below each photo either that i would like to have it included automatically when you click on the photo which open with lightbox

I hope you are well. I appreciate you are busy so before you get the chance to write the custom code to choose which image is in the post thumbnail on the home page, is it possible you could tell me how to turn them off entirely as a temporary solution? (not the featured slider - the small thumbnails in the posts on the front page (I know how to turn off the images in actual post itself).

Thanks James for your help. I have checked the functions and it appears right. However, if I changed that presumably it would still squash the image? Because the images need to be so wide for the slider, I do not think it would ever look right in any way squashed or cropped.

Is there anyway possible (or could I get customised for a fee) to be able to tell WP not to use my featured image as a thumbnail and tell it to use a different image designed for the thumbnail instead?

WordPress treats the featured image and post thumbnail as the same thing. The confusion with the names probably stems from the name being changed to "Featured Image" in WP 3.0

The sizes of the images are defined in functions.php and can be modified here, but any size changes are only used for images uploaded after that point, so existing images need to be re-uploaded.

The images for the 2 column posts should be using the "S" size (60px by 60px) - was the featured image for this post uploaded before the theme was activated because it looks like the original (not resized) image is being used. Try removing the featured image and re-uploading it through the media manager to see if the image is updated (and fixed).

Hi James

Thanks for getting back. They are getting squashed in the thumbnails next to the post excerpts on the home page.

Here is the link - http://www.3dfocusnews.com.

I have tried making a different picture for the thumbnail (I could not use the same for the featured slider and thumbnail due to the size difference) but it would still use the featured image as the thumbnail image. How can I tell WP what to use as the featured image and what to use as a post thumbnail image?

Finally, it still seems to automatically add the featured image into the post (even though I select - 'use as featured image' and not 'insert into post').

Example - http://www.3dfocusnews.com/?p=37

Thanks for your support,

Jon

Also,

Where are images getting squashed - can you post the URL?

The easiest way to sort out images which do not appear correctly is to edit them (crop etc) in a image editor eg Photoshop before uploading them.

This is a great theme. I am new to it and have a few queries but will do each one as a different thread to make the solutions easier to find.

In this one, I want to know how I can prevent my thumbnails getting squashed. I do not want the image I use for the slider being the one used as the thumbnail for each post. I want to be able to make my own thumbnail suited for the smaller dimensions and use that as my post thumbnail. Also, how do I set it so the featured image (for the slider) is not used automatically in the post? I don't select 'Insert in post' just 'use as featured image'and it still appears automatically.

I look forward to hearing the solution.

All the best,

Jonathan
