Hi,

You can find the code for thumbnail resizing in config-woocommerce > config.php, find this code

$avia_config['imgSize']['shop_thumbnail'] = array('width'=>130, 'height'=>85);
$avia_config['imgSize']['shop_catalog'] = array('width'=>450, 'height'=>450);
$avia_config['imgSize']['shop_single'] = array('width'=>450, 'height'=>999);

Hello Guys,
when i forget some missing translation in the *.po/mo file, few missing show/hide divs possibilities, i would say nice template.
anyway i have few questions.
Could you please let me know what script is resizing the thumbs for the widgets of woocommerce like recent products etc?
i know there is a css for this, something like width: 64px; height: auto; anyway that sets the thumbnail in frontend, but what resize the image in the backend?
output: i have changed the css to width: 64px; height: 64px anyway the thumbnail is cropped badly.
question: is there a way how to set the resolution of the thumbs?

And another question.
Do you plan to plant the layer slider into this template in near future and if not, can i request a custom work?
If yes please send me a pre-sale calculation.

Thanks in advance

Hi colorit2,

As far as I know, the theme doesn't modify the image quality. There is a setting in the core wordpress files to set the uploaded thumbnails to 90% quality but I *think* those uploaded with the Avia framework bypass this.

If you'd like to try and change that, you'll need to open the media.php file inside wp-includes and change the setting there. Its on line 410.

Regards,

OK, then. Just an FYI that a variety of the malicious script tools are identifying this as compromised because he's also issued a variety of fixes to that. 2.8 is a few revs ago and exploits were found in those too. I updated to 2.8.10 and there seems to be no issue with functionality....yet.

Hi!

Yes. Timthumb 2.x is actually a complete new script. It was created by a new author: http://markmaunder.com/2011/08/05/wordthumb-is-now-timthumb-2-0/ who took care of the security issues in timthumb 1.x.

Thanks Mya, however I am using v2.0.3 and the warnings are going off all over the place. I just downloaded the latest version off themforest and looked at the Timthumb.php file. It has the same version, 2.8 that I have now. Has a modify date of 8/25/11. Are you saying this is an updated version and I should ignore the script warnings? I do see his latest is 2.8.10 and there have been quite a few revised versions since 2.8 that is in the theme now. http://timthumb.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/timthumb.php

Version 2.0.3 of Display comes with the updated timthumb.php file so as long you're running 2.0.3 you're in the clear. In the future if more updates need to be made all you'll need to do is download the updated version of Display from ThemeForest.

I'm sorry if this one has been beaten to death but I can;t find specific information on fixing this issue in the display theme. I have installed and customized Display v 2.0.3 and upon launch have seen warnings regarding the 2.8.10 version of timthumb.php file. Do you have a fix for this? I believe Display uses timthumb quite a bit right?

Apologies for constant posts, but my previous posts were a bit unclear. I couldn't delete them, so let me re-ask my question in a more concise way:

If my only changes have been to style.css, does this mean all I need to do is back up that file, upload the new template, then paste my CSS code into 2.0.3's style.css file? Or do I also need to save my widgets and menus in order to re-build those once 2.0.3 is installed?

Thanks for your time, sorry if I'm driving you crazy, heh.

hi there!

I am currently using your Amplify theme v1 and since updating the timthumb script to version 2.8.10 any post images are not displaying! I just get a grey box where the image should be.

The post images display fine in the slider on the front page.

Have you come across this issue?

Hi JPDCSO,

You would need to contact Themforest to rectify the theme not showing up under your downloads. Once you are able to update, as long as you have not modified the theme files directly, you won't have any issues with applying the update.

If you have, you can see the changelog for a list of files that have been modified and update those while also reapplying any changes you have done after that.

Hi, I'm having an issue with the thumbnails on my site. For some of my site's viewers, they only see the thumbnails loading. Since I have version 2.0.2, I'm assuming this is a timthumb issue?

Two questions:
1) My themeforest account doesn't seem to have my Newscast purchase listed, and I can't seem to find my purchase info. If I sent PM'd my contact info, could you look it up?
2) I've already built the site to my specifications. Would updating to 2.0.3 do away with those changes?

the latest version of Newscast (2.0.3) doesn't contain timthumb anymore. Please download the update from http://themeforest.net and replace the old files with the new ones.

Hello, Kriesi, hello Dude

First of all, congratulations on your theme. It's affordable, sleek, flexible, and beautiful.

For some reasons not concerning security, I need to drop timthumb script from my website. I would like to use regular WP post attachments to show images (my editors know how to crop and resize images prior uploading). So, timthumb won't be necessary. What files do I need to modify/alter in order to get rid of timthumb?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The timthumb reference code isn't called/interpreted anymore - otherwise the php compiler would output fatal errors because required files would be missing.

I'll look into a "latest version thread". Someone else asked for it too. However it takes some time to gather all the data and at the moment I don't have enough time for this task. When I find some free time I'll create the list.

I understand that the script can't be exploited if it's not there. However the latest version downloaded from themeforest still contains references to timthumb in some pretty important functions. I'm more concerned with the functionality of the theme as the functions called from timthumb no longer exist.

Also I see my advice/request for keeping the sticky'd post at the top of the forum up to date with versions and dates was not heeded. I would like to again point out my request, found in my first post, to keep the sticky'd thread up to date and match the themeforest version/descriptions.

As always thanks for your time.

Hey,
Kriesi used timthumb in older themes (like Display) but he switched to the native WP thumbnail function (themes since Newscast, CleanCut, Expose, etc.). Some files may contain references to timthumb but hackers can't exploit them because they need the timthumb.php script to attack the server. However the latest version doesn't contain tumthumb.php anymore and hackers can't access it anymore. The latest version of timthumb can be considered as secure again.

Two things really.
1. I did not know this theme had updated and timthumb had been removed, this is because the sticky'd post at the top of this forum has not been updated to reflect such; it wasn't until I was leisurely reading the forum that I saw it was mentioned in passing. I had to check themeforest.net, and re-download the package to check the version.rtf to see it had been updated. After updating and reading that timthumb was removed due to a security flaw I was a little more peeved as my site has recently been defaced (read: hacked), and I can't help but wonder if this was the hole used to get in as EVERYTHING else was locked down and kept up to date. In future versions of the version document and the sticky'd post would it be possible to also include the date as well as the version number? Thank you.

2. According to the verstion.rtf I'm referring to, it says timthumb was removed, however it is still referenced in lots_of_small_helpers.php and actually called in kriesi_post_thumb.php. Is there any reason the code was left in place? It would seem that is the meat of the function call and the call is used in no less than 14 other files multiple times each. I am getting serious about security after recent events, and am hoping my questions can be answered. Thanks again.
