Thanks Dude. Unfortunately, using px widths means I can only go to about 200px before it screws up when viewed on smartphones (goes of the side of the screen), which is a little too small (need about 400px for my 'thumbnail' images). I guess I'll have to live with it unless there is something else I can do?

On a similar subject, is there any chance the caption is going to be added back into the lightboxes in future updates? It's a bit odd not to be able to caption a lightbox image.

Thanks,

It's not possible to change the tooltip width based on the thumbnail width because the width is "hardcoded" with css. However you can change the current tooltip width to any other width - insert following code into the quick css field

.avia-tooltip {
width: 180px;
}

and adjust the width value.

Hi guys,

Been trying to find the CSS for the gallery thumbnail tooltip width (the tooltip that displays the image caption). Can't find it using Firebug. What custom CSS do I need to add to have the tooltip be 100% width of the thumbnail image to which it relates?

Thanks,

Hi Clément,

The function is working properly though you don't need in both the footer and the avia.js file.

I'm not sure why you are still seeing the title but I don't know of another way to remove it.

jQuery.noConflict();
jQuery(document).ready(function(){

jQuery(document).ready(function($){
$('[title]').removeAttr('title');
});

Do you have an other solution ? Thank for trying to help me.

Hi lorarena,

It looks like some of the titles (hover text that appears) gets cut off when you use a ' or " in the text. You may need to use the html characters for accents so that the title doesn't get unintentionally cut off.

See: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_symbols.asp

I got there in the end, bit more complicated than that edit above to be honest ;-)

You can see it in action on my site >> http://www.jamespictures.co.uk/portfolio-item/exploring-jersey/

Its now perfect for my personal needs, great little addition.

Notice the Location: 49° 10.7836′ 0″ 2° 14.4276′ 0″ tagged on to the bottom of the images with GPS EXIF info, which opens a popup to Google Maps where the Pic was taken

All coded into the file flashlight\includes\helper-slideshow.php file, so I just have to remember when updating not to overwrite that file !! lol

Hi,

If you do an XML export of your entire site, a plugin does that. and re-import it into the subdomain, you should have a clone of your current site with identical links. At that point you just switch the virtual hosts. Google though will notice that the pages are newer. Even if you could keep the working version on a subdomain (make sure to forbid spider access in privacy setting of wordpress),

i could run a comparison of the two side by side with identical plugins and customization in both, and it would be much easier to see what is different about them.

From what I've experienced, such situation often happen when Wordpress updates, and instead of manually deleting the admin and includes folders as well as files at base of website and then using ftp, people do the automatic installation, which quite often doesn't update every single file. There are noticeable difference between a wordpress that went through 4 auto updates and a fresh install.

But I think at this point, besides updating Wordpress core , or the site comparison i mentioned above. I am unable to recommend for you to migrate . Though google claims it doesn't affect seo, on the safe side, i would exhaust other options first, and see what Kriesi says.

Thanks,

I've done it!!!

Soooo:

<body id="top" class="home blog logged-in admin-bar Chrome Chrome21 theme-flashlightchild customize-support">

This div houses the tooltips, and in my child theme it was 1263px X 136px. No idea why, I don't have any custom CSS set to modify this, don't think I have any plugins that modify this (since the subdomain showed it wasn't a plugin issue), somehow just came like this. The subdomain showed that this div is supposed to be 1263px X 0px, so I just made this change and the tooltips appeared magically. Maybe something happens differently when child themes are activated?

Sorry for putting all of you guys through this ordeal, appreciate all the time and feedback, glad this got figured out, even though I have no idea what caused this to begin with o.O

Now if Kriesi can take a look at those other aging posts :D

Hi Nick,

I've set up a fresh subdomain as you suggested. The tooltips work. I then copied over every plugin I had, and activated each one, one at a time, and tested the tooltip. The tooltips work after activating all the plugins. What's wrong with my main install? Everything should be the same, I've imported the content and the settings, activated the same plugins, doesn't make sense.

So what can I do at this point? Another migration? o.O I actually have a separate post about the slow manual migration I'm already making regarding the images (that post is 6 days old, and still waiting for Kriesi to answer, unfortunately. I have a feeling Kriesi will say no changes or improvements will be made since that might jeopardize existing users, etc etc). Would reallllllly suck to have to re-migrate all over again from the beginning.

Hi,

I will add a note for Kriesi.

But the way the tooltip behaves, that stuttering motion, looks as if two opposing pieces of code are pulling it in opposite directions but unfortunately I cant tell. You can try to setup the demo on a subdomain, with the theme and demo content, then when tooltips work, you can export the data from the live site and import it on new one, takes about 10 minutes. and then activate plugins one by one, till you see whats causing it.

Thanks,

Nick

Hey Nick,

Sorry for all the trouble, I don't know why this is happening. I made those changes, and the messing with the offset will allow the tooltips to show up, but another issue is that for some reason the tooltip comes in from below, while the demo comes in from above. So as the tooltip comes into screen from below, it runs into the mouse cursor and either cancels the tooltip or causes stuttering. So weird this is happening

Hi,

I setup the theme a total of 3 times since my last message and each time the tooltips seemed to work. The one thing I noticed though when comparing the fresh installs to your live site, is that the tooltips on your site are created one full height below off screen compared to a new install. So the tooltips are there but something is pushing them down.

Please open js/avia.js and around line 161 it should say 'modifier = -28;' (without the single quotes). Please try changing that number to -638 and see if there is a difference on firefox or chrome and if not, please try again with -800.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

Haha thats the problem, isn't it? Yes the tooltips are definitely turned on in the main settings. If you go to the homepage, and click on "hide sidebar", the best way I've found to see this issue is to put your mouse cursor at the top border of the thumbnails. You'll see the tooltip quickly slide down and fade as it goes down out of frame. If you put your cursor lower on the thumbnail, it'll run into the tooltip on it's way down, and it'll quickly reset or something. Another way you can also tell this happened is the pointer immediately turns back into your normal mouse cursor. It also depends on the browser, for IE, I don't see the animation at all.

Best,

Hi,

W3 Total Cache uses a file to store its settings so once you have everything perfect, backup the settings file and next time you deactivate and reactivate, just switch the configuration files and you will save yourself lots of time.

Have you turned the tool tips back on because I don't see them yet on your site.

Thanks,

Hey Devin,

Thanks for getting involved. Yes I'm including Jetpack in there. I've disable all of my plugins, including WooCommerce, Dvin wishlist, and W3 Total Cache (which turned out to be a pain to reactivate), and every single other plugin I have. I tried viewing the tooltips with nothing turned on and it still displayed this way.

As for the child theme, that is actually kind of a new change. At the time I did all of this testing, I was using the main theme.

Hope this info helps you guys diagnose the problem,

Best,

Hi Mike,

Are you including Jetpack in disabled plugins as well?

I just noticed you are also working with a Child theme which may have something to do with it as well. I'm going to tag our head of support to take a look since I'm having any luck pinpointing the cause.

Regards,
