Hey! I have never used w3 total cache so I cant really help a lot here.

The live server uses a combination of wp supercache and better-wp-minify:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/bwp-minify/
http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/

Those 2 in combination should work without problems, maybe you might like to test them instead of w3 total cache :)

Hello!!

Thank you for all your help so far. I love this theme and am excited to create my best work yet because of all of you.

I need help with W3 Total Cache. I've set it up with minimal settings. I would love to do whatever it is you did to the demo site. When I load my site, in Pingdom Tools all my css files are being loaded separately. If I auto minify all of the css is lost. How would I go about combining all the css. Also, I am using a child theme.

When I go with the minimal settings for the minify and just have the js on, I loose some functionality. Right now I notice that my blog preview buttons no longer show the next thumbnail. I love this feature and would like to keep it. I think I am having trouble because of how the theme is set up for every possibility but I could also be missing something.

The browser is also searching for an empty/non-exsistent style.css.

Here are links to my 3 altered settings on W3 Total Cache and website performance:

Hi kaylesimon,

When using WooCommerce its typically recommended to only use the minification of the javascript/css files. Although with WP Super Cache I know WooThemes added some specific direction to tell that plugin not to cache any of the WooCommerce pages so you can also try it out instead.

Regards,

So when my "add to cart" disappeared whenever I had a variable product, I first made sure I had pricing in every variable and then, when that did not correct the issue, I turned off all my plugins. It turned out my W3 Total Cache plugin was the problem, unfortunately; with it deactivated, the Add to Cart appears at http://www.siteswoon.com/shop/party_started/, and when it's activated, it disappears.

I'm just wondering whether anyone knows of any settings I can use in W3 Total Cache that might resolve this issue. I'd really like to be using it but not if it breaks WooCommerce on the Replete theme.

Also just thought I would let others know why their button disappeared... being a beginner with WooCommerce, it took me a while to realize I hadn't simply done something wrong in the attributes and variables area!

Tbh the best thing for a better performance is a good hoster - obviously most of them aren't cheap but you get more for your money. Cheap "5 bucks per month" hosters also need to cover their costs and the end result is that 100 or more users need to share a server and this affects the website performance dramatically.

In addition make sure that your media files and images are not too big (eg I've seen thumbnail images with 1mb+ file size and this is just crazy). You can use tools like: http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-software/light-image-resizer/ to batch compress/shrink the images.

That said W3TC is the best cache plugin I know and it works pretty well on all of my websites.

If you'd like to use W3TC make sure that it won't affect WooCommerce. Personally I'd only use the "minify" and the "browser cache" feature which compresses and gzips your js/css files. The database/object cache can trigger some negative side effects and I wouldn't use it.

Hey,
w3validator: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.menckemedia.nl%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0 returns several errors. I think they're related to the excerpt generation which doesn't take care of html tags. There several solutions:

1) You can set read more tags for all entries. You need to take care that all html tags are closed before you insert the read more tag.
2) You can update to the latest Shoutbox version - this will fix the error automatically (however excerpts won't have formated text if you don't set read more tags).

Hi, just want to share about a problem that cost me quite a long time trying to find the reason:
Votes for anonymous users would not be recorded, the table in the MySQL was not changed, and when ever I reloaded the page, the same (by IP) user received back the initial number of votes.
The reason turned out to be the Object Caching that apparently prevented the updating of votes.
I solved the issue by adding into the W3 Total Cache's field "Never cache the following pages" at the "Object Cache" settings two lines:

/avia_feedback_box/
/relative path to the page where you display the feedback box/

Hope this will be helpful for others who wonder about similar stubborn behavior of Avia Feedback Box.

Dude-

Did a clean install of wordpress on a new test domain. No plugins other than w3c and I'm still losing the javascript functionality. Have put in a request to have my web host make some edits folks have recommended, but I just don't know what else could be wrong. Any ideas? Do you have a configuration from an avisio site you could export than I could test?

Yes. I use W3C Total cache on my site (and used it on two other websites without problems). However maybe other plugins cause a conflict or the configuration isn't right.

Installed the plugins, but doesn't work without disabling the features of the theme, ie slider on the front page, tab/accordion shortcodes, sorting in portfolio. Is this something that's been successfully implemented with the Avisio theme? I only asked since you suggested it.

Hey,
you can use w3-total-cache to minify or combine files: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/w3-total-cache/

Hey-

Trying improve my site speed and have found a few areas that I'd like some guidance on. Looking to reduce the amount of http request generated by the theme but removing or combing the following:

1. Background Images
I've been trying to replace some of the background images with actual images in the containers to no avail. The social media icons and header logo in particular.

2. CSS
Where is the second CSS document called out. I'd like to combine the two into a single css file.

3. Javascript
Is it possible to combine the theme's javascript files into a single file?
