Hi,

I'd like to install the Yoast SEO plug-in but before doing so would like to know if it's compatible and has been tested.

Hello, I heard back from woocommerce support and here is the answer:

Have you tried the "Custom Post Type Archives" for Products?

http://cld.wthms.co/wNuL

That should do the trick.

In german this is called "Archive von Artikeltypen" in the Title & Meta Section of the yoast plugin. I would have never associated this with the Shop Page only.

So it indeed does the trick and solves my issue here.

I hope this is useful for some other people as well.

Hi Christian,

I think the issue is that WooCommerce uses the page designation to fill in all the data it needs for each of its page types (checkout, catalog, order tracking etc) and so it ignore anything of value on that page.

Since Yoast doesn't provide support and neither does WooComerce unless you have purchased something from them its a bit of a tricky situation as we are pretty limited on what we can help with on third party plugin interaction.

Regards,

Hi Nick,

that does not help, all the other categories use the correct information but the main store page doesn´t. It is also difficult to get my head around it: the /shop/ page is a regular page with no other information on it. I is selected as the shop-page through the woocommerce backend. I also added the title and description info there with no effect.

I also filed a question to the wootheme ninjas. I hope that they can help. Yoast does not give support for his plugin sadly.
Well see what happens I guess ;)

Hi,

Have you tried looking at all the settings in Yoast to make sure you are not adding the name of website elsewhere? Please read here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wordpress-seo-by-yoast-problem-with-wordpress-seo-and-woocommerce-category-display

You should ask this question on the forums for the Yoast or WooCommerce plugins as well since they know how their plugins interact with each other better than I and also since 3 heads are better than 1. :)

Thanks,

Hello,
I have setup all titles and descriptions nicely using the Yoast SEO Plugin. However, on the shop page it does not pull the data from the plugin (it pulls the canonical tag, so it is working to some degree). The title is "Produkte - Blogname" and no description is pulled at all. Since the shoppage is pretty important in the hierarchy my site, I need to put proper titles in there.

I think the best way would be some kind of conditional tag to say that if the page is "shop" then use this title else use the kriesi theme title.

Thank you!
Christian

PS: I also changed the "noindex" for archive pages to "index", since I want them to enter the serps

Hi colorit2,

Since the full width page is a template, you'll need to add it to that template. Which in this case is the file called template_fullwidth.php in the main folder of the theme.

Hi,

I use the SEO plugin of Yoast, coming along with the breadcrumb functionality. I have added for this his code

<?php if ( function_exists('yoast_breadcrumb') ) {
yoast_breadcrumb('<p id="breadcrumbs">','</p>');
} ?>

to the page.php and it looks like this: http://pastie.org/5191759

it works fine as long as the page is not a full width page:

.

But as soon as I set the page to full width, no breadcrumbs are shown:

Could you please tell me, where I can add Yoast's code snippet to have the breadcrumbs in full width pages, too?
Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Try to include the yoast function on includes > loop files.If you want to show it on your posts, try to include the code on loop-index.php and include it on loop-portfolio.php if you want to show the breadcrumbs on your portfolio. You can also try to insert the code on template files such as template-blog.php and template-portfolio.php.

I'm trying too add the following code to the botton of single.php and page.php (in wp-content/themes/flashlight/single.php and wp-content/themes/flashlight/page.php)

<?php if ( function_exists('yoast_breadcrumb') ) {

I can't help you with your topic, but I know, that Wordpress adds a -1 etc. to the permalinks as soon as some items in the trash of Wordpress are there with the same name. So look at your Wordpress trash and empty it - perhaps this is a cause for thought.

Yea partly. For some weird reason, when I fully activated Yoast SEO, it changed the permalinks to pages like portfolio-4. I went in and manually changed the permalinks myself, but now, if I change them to what I want like: /frequently-asked-questions it will add a -4 onto the end of the link. Weird eh?? So I just changed it to /frequently-asked-question and it obeyed.

I just hope nothing is messed up with the SEO now. I guess I'll find out when I submit the sitemap?

Hey everyone, a bit of an issue here with Yoast SEO. I changed the header.php to: <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title> as I saw in another post, and I set my titles in Yoast to: %%title%% | %%sitename%%. But I'm only getting titles like this: http://staintech.us/contact-us-3/ ...and that is the link for the FAQ page! Any ideas? I'm out of them!

Great! It worked!

BTW, if any1 will follow my path, and enable that feature, you will need that pluggin: HTML in Category Descriptions ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/allow-html-in-category-descriptions/ ).... because the default setting dont allow HTML in Descriptions.

I think you don't need the meta tag code if you use wpseo because it will use the description automatically if you don't enter a custom category meta description. You just need to modify archive.php.

I didnt get it. I should just re-make archive.php (the way you offer) or should i also do something with header.php? (the last part - i didnt get it)

I think you can simply add this code to archive.php. I'd add it after following line:

<h2 class='firstheading'><span class='container'><?php echo avia_which_archive(); ?></span></h2>

- it would look like:

<h2 class='firstheading'><span class='container'><?php echo avia_which_archive(); ?></span></h2>

<?php if (is_category()) { ?>
<?php $description=category_description(); echo $description; ?>
<?php } ?>

<?php if (is_tax()) { echo term_description(); } ?>

<?php if (is_tag()) { ?><?php echo tag_description(); ?><?php } ?>

The meta tag code needs to be in header.php (before the closing head tag).

Hello Kriesi, i`ve seen you did find some time in our busy scheduled to oversee and reply to the latest postsn the forum.

So i thought that maybe you can bring some light on the thread which was arised by me here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/how-to-turn-on-the-categoryes-desription-wordpress-feature-in-corona

Actually, (maybe it will sound a little bit harsh. Sorry) i was hoping you not to "comments" something on that thread, but actually solve that issue. Or, if its not a issue, but a "Feature" - to you to change it.

My point here is very simple.
I have a Corona blog and one more another site on other wordpress "engine.
So, as ive mention on the linked post, some time ago i`ve spent my time with my second (not-Corona blog) and i firstly fullfill:
SEO Title and SEO Description field for all my categories on that blog. In next three days the amount of traffic from Google almost doubled. After that, i`ve run all over the Categoryes and also fullfill all the (default wordpress) "category description" field. That field allow to insert any custom made description on top of the "category page". And after that my traffic from Google jumped even more.
=================

And now Corona:
1)We can fill SEO title + SEO Description fields (if we have YoastSEO installed).
But, Corona doesn't work with default "category description" field.

We can fulfill it, and more that that - the actual text does appear on the "HTML source" of the category page.
But on the page itself - nope. NO description there.

So, my points are:
1) By the default settings the text writen in the "Category Description" fields - appears on the actual "category page".
In Corona, that test only appears on the HTML code. Seems like its "disabled" somehow to not to appear on the page.
So visitors cant see that description and Google don`t "react" on that part of HTML (since Google now check both HTML and the actual "appeareance" to prevent keywords spam).

2)So, by enabling that feature Corona owner will get:

A)A great tool to improve overall SEO - which will get them more natural SearchTraffic.
B)By using the "Category Descriptions" (if they will appear on the actual pages - we (owners of Corona blogs) will improve our websites, and allow our visitors to enjoy our blogs\sites even more.

So, WHY not to enable both "CATEGORY description" and "TAGS description" back to its default state?
