Hi,

What you should do, is make a backup copy of custom.css file because it will get overwritten if you update the theme. After the theme is updated, simply paste everything from your old custom.css file into the new one. Also if you made edits to the theme files , they will be overwritten as well. Your images will not be touched and neither will your database. However it is always a good rule of thumb to make a backup copy of both.

Thanks,

Nick

Hey Devin,

I wont be able to show live until this weekend. But i feel for this I will have to keep in the custom.css because I am pretty far into the design and dont mind as long as I know they wont be overwritten when an update happens.

The custom.css file wont be overwritten right?

But if you want to look further the my issue was that style.css was adding the additional styles but not overriding any css in the layout.css file.

Thanks for trying to help out.

J

Hi justingrahamiam,

As far as I know you should only need to add your styles in the child's style.css. Can you show us an example live of some css that isn't taking effect but should? Perhaps we can spot what the issue is while inspecting through the browser.

Regards,

Devin

I have recently purchased the Angular theme. I would really appreciate help on how I can make all my css edits in my child theme's style.css instead of the parent themes custom.css. I have set up child themes before with no issues but when I set one up for the Angular theme it only overrides some of the parent styles but none of the major ones that need to be changed. I'm making more then just css edits and would really like to keep all of my css/php/html edited files all together. Please if you can give me detailed instructions on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.
