I think a plugin interfered with the jquery file. So ... I the Wordpress files from the server (but not the PHP database) and downloaded the Cubit theme again ... and uploaded both to the server. Still ... the animation is not working. I also uploaded the cubit theme to another WordPress site I have ... and the animation doesn't on the menu either. (These sites are not related.)
