The slider works better now - I just noticed a small shift between the transitions. You can try to replace:

with:

- otherwise the styling code of the slider doesn't work as expected.

Hi,

Wow! An ASP 3.0 website, I miss that language still. But I would consider switching to table-less design. It was very difficult to switch to css/div but Google Developer Tools make life a lot easier making changes than it was possible with tables. Good luck!

On the Featured Media there is "Apply link to the image?" option, you can select "Link Manually" then supply the URL. If you don't want any link select "No Link".

Sorry if this isn't in the right place but I don't seem to be able to find where to start a new topic OR find a topic which is answering my question and I don't have hours to search it out.

I have purchased the Avia Slider and need to know these things:

- How do I link the slides to other web-pages or remove the links?
- How do I change the width of the slider?

Any help, links to answers etc. would be great thanks.

There's something I didn't thought about first but another user reported same problem and found the obvious cause. If you use the unmodified version of custom.js the demo styleswitcher is included - that's why the slider interacts with the php variables (as I don't use the original custom.js I didn't thought of that first). Open up custom.js, find following code and delete it:

// the following stuff is only for the demo page to switch sliders
function demopage_switchslider()
{
	var param = window.location.href.substring(window.location.href.indexOf('?')+8);

	if(param != undefined && param != '' && window.location.href.indexOf('?') > 0)
	{
		$('.aviaslider').attr('id',param); //change the id of the slideshow depending on the url, so another slideshow gets applied
	}
}

and:

//only needed for the demo page
demopage_switchslider();

So basically the function call at the top and the function on the bottom of the file.

I never used nivoSlider but I can ask Kriesi to comment on the differences. Very likely aviaslider offers more transitions, etc.

As far as I know Aviaslider itself doesn't need php variables and doesn't care about them as long as you don't use the style switcher of the demo. So you can use the slider on any wp page (or other cms) without caring about php variables.

Include following files in header.php:

and your images like:

That's it. The get variables shouldn't influence the script (I used it on several wp sites without problem).

Yeah thats right, but wordpress is using an useful information with the "page_id"-GET-variable. So what should I do if I want to use the avia slider on an url with page_id-get?

And why is your demo working with ?abx=abx but not with ?abx=abxxxx . What kind of usefull information is in abx which is not in abxxxx. For me it seems that the avilslider is not working with not predefined get-variables and get variables whiches names are longer than 3 chars or there values are longer than 3.

In my research I come closer to an solution. I included the files without the ".min" in the filename and it's not working in this point

return this.each(function()
		{
			var slideWrapper = $(this),									//wrapper element
				slides = slideWrapper.find(options.slides),				//single slide container
				slideImages	= slides.find('img'),						//slide image within container
				slideCount 	=	slides.length,							//number of slides

if I put an
alert(test);
into the curved brackets it works without GET-var and it's not working with GET-var
...

so what would you tell me to go on?

Hey,
dopamin90 the concept of get variables is to submit useful information. You must append a variable which exists or calls a certain behaviour. I.e this link works: http://aviathemes.com/aviaslider/?slider=diagonal-blocks because the slider id exists. Appending something like: ?abx=abxxxxxx is just nonsense as long as the slider id doesn't exist. Conclusion is that the demo works correct :)

I have the same problem and I figured out what the reason is. The GET-Variables in Worpress:

For example: http://www.houseofmax.de/mds/wordpress -> Startpage --> everything is fine --> clicking on "referenzen" --> it's not working
the rason ist that wordpress generates an ?page_id=y behind the url. So ...
TRY IT OUT
startpage with suffix ?testvar=ab ---> not working (e.g.:www.houseofmax.de/mds/wordpress/?testvar=ab)
startpage with suffix ?abx=ab --> working
startpage with suffix ?abx=abxxxxxxx --> not working

what is the reason for that?

I'm using wordpress+thesis on binaryturf.com. The slider is on the homepage and doesn't work. I also suggest better documentation in step-by-step format; perhaps a small tutorial.

Coming across the same issue when incorporating it on the same page as a mailchimp newsletter signup form. For other JS i've used jquery.noconflict() however I can't seem to get that to work with the slider.

Hi, I don't see how to start a new topic on this forum, so am adding my Avia Slider question here.

I have this in the HTML:

And this in javascript:

$(document).ready(function()

{

    $('#slider1').aviaSlider({
   	   blockSize: {height: 'full', width:'full'},
   	   autorotation: true,
   	   autorotationSpeed:2,
   	   transition: 'fade',
   	   slideControlls: 'none',
   	   showText: true
   	   });
});

I have the js file in the right folder, and copy and pasted the aviaslider css into my main.css. The images all load, but slideshow doesn't happen. All the li images are just stacked on top of one another.

Any thoughts?

Hey!

Had a quick look at the site, all your JS files are giving me 404 - Page Not Found errors. Can you check the path to the files and try again?

Regards,
