Noo. that put's it on the side bar. But forget it. I decided to give up using SVG images (a lot of browsers don't know how to interpret them well). I just placed a PNG image at the top as the background and that works for me

Thanks for your efforts anyway

This theme is the bomb!...

Hi ngonzalez,

Try to use this code instead:

.sidebar {
 background: url('http://www.opsvenue.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/shutterstock_Right.svg') left top;

I'm sorry but I had not tried yet when I responded. It doesn't work for me. This is what I input under Theme Options, Styling Quick CSS. I entered the code and nothing happens. Also for some reason the same image comes' out considerably smaller on the page that has the contact form. No Idea why...this is my site http://www.opsvenue.com (pls use Chrome or Safari, for some reason the SVG image doesn't render properlly with IE9 or firefox)

input.sidebar {
background-image: urlhttp://www.opsvenue.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/shutterstock_Right.svg;
-o-background-size: 100% 100%;
-webkit-background-size: 100% 100%;
}

Hi ngonzalez,

Try adding this code snippet in Quick CSS or custom.css:

.sidebar {
 background-image: url(test.svg);
 -o-background-size: 100% 100%;
 -webkit-background-size: 100% 100%;
}

Just replace test.svg with the right url of the svg image. Hope this helps. :)

Regards,

OK. that worked but the .eps doesn't play well with most browsers anyway. So i'll stick with the svg format. Can you give directions to have the image appear in the side bars?

Thanks for your assistance

Hi,

Looks like you need to add this on the end of functions.php

// Added to extend allowed files types in Media upload
add_filter('upload_mimes', 'custom_upload_mimes');
function custom_upload_mimes ( $existing_mimes=array() ) {

// Add *.EPS files to Media upload
$existing_mimes['eps'] = 'application/postscript';

// Add *.AI files to Media upload
$existing_mimes['ai'] = 'application/postscript';

return $existing_mimes;
}

Please try and see if it works.

Regards,

Me again. Unfortunately when I convert the .eps file to .svg it looses lots of quality. So I really would like to use my .eps image. I found a piece of code that is supposed to remove the security restriction from WordPress and allow .eps uploads but I have to edit the fuction-flagship file. When I go there there I see a big note asking users not to modify that file.

Is it possible to enable the support of .eps file upload somehow?

This is the site that I found:

http://itswordpress.com/featured/add-additional-file-types-to-wordpress-media-library/

Thank you

I'm using a .svg file type. The plugging did the trick (WordPress doesn't support .svg by default). The image uploads just fine now. Please let me know how do I make the image cover the side bars as well.

I appreciate your help

Hi ngonzalez,

What is the file extension of the image you want to upload? Try using that plugin, that might work. Also, this forum is using bbpress. :)

It just sais that it failed to upload (apparently is a known weakeness of wordpress). I found a pluging called scalable-vector-graphics-svg that is supposed to allow the use of vector images in wordpress but haven't had a chance to try it yet..

In another note..Do you mind telling me what kind of support forum you use in your site. I'm trying to choose one for mine and this one looks very good.

Hi ngonzalez,

We can make that background image appear on your header and sidebar. However, I think the problem is the uploading failed, can you tell us what error shows up when the image failed to upload?

Hi,

I purchased a background image which is vector illustration (.eps) that support any kind of re-shaping. Right now I have it as the header background of my site and it works just fine. I would like to use this to be the background of my header, side bars and footer or at least header and side bars. Is that supported by the flagship theme?

Please advise

Thank you
