			<description>&#60;p&#62;it gets used as a background iamge so all areas that gt no background defined will let it &#34;shine through&#34; in full width layout this would be header and footer, although you can prevent using it at the footer if you make the image a smaller height and do not tile it/tile it only on the x axis&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;If you really want to be sure I would go with a picture of about 1400-1600 width. Its currently difficult to talk about a common standard with all these devices like iPhone and iPad out there that got a much smaller screen size. for desktops and laptops I think you are fine with 1600

			<description>&#60;p&#62;Hi there,&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I have a background image I want to use with the theme that I guess is used behind the slider and on some of the pages with header text.  At the minute it is HUGE at 1920 x 1200.  What would be a good size to reduce that down to that will work with most modern browsers on big screens, i'm guessing a 21&#34; imac is about average screen size these days?&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;I tried measuring it at around 510px high on screen but it might need to be bigger.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Any advice offered would be most welcome :)&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Where else is it used?  In the footer?
