You can only try to create a background image with a certain height and your headline color and apply it to the .post-entry element. The disadvantage is that you need headlines with exact the same length. Another solution (can get a time intensive and difficult task) is to change the post-title location with margins and paddings or you can modify/move the post title code (in includes/loop-index.php and includes/loop-single.php) so that it's not affected by the post-entry margins/paddings.
