Hi,

I don't have a retina device so I can;t answer, but the plugin has 5 star rating across the board with a significant number of downloads, so at the moment its the leading plugin of this type by far. (prelovac rates it 11th best at the moment http://www.prelovac.com/vladimir/wordpress-plugins-rising-stars )

1) Tutorial Written by the author of the plugin http://www.totorotimes.com/news/retina-display-wordpress-plugin/

2) Here is a video where a developer of a competing plugin is interviewed and they discuss both of them. Definitely worth watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt2Bxa7-K44

Here is just some other chitchat about retina & woo that is current

Hi,

Use this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-retina-2x/ . IT should do all the dirty work for you, so you don't have to make multiple versions of the same image yourself.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Tom,

My guess would be using a plugin to add retina support. I have very little experience with retina support as I believe most of the support crew does except Kriesi himself (who is I believe the only owner an idevice at all).

I'll tag everyone on the topic to see if anyone has some additional thoughts on it.

Regards,

Devin

Hi,

before I start to add product images to my Replete 1.3.1/woo2.0.3/wp3.5.1 installation (development site) I would like to ask, what would be the best way to prepare them to get the most out for my visitors with and without retina display (or so called HiDPI supported devices).

I did not change any of the sizes configuration in functions.php
Just to see some of them:

$avia_config['imgSize']['fullsize'] = array('width'=>930, 'height'=>930, 'crop'=>false); // big images for lightbox and portfolio single entries
$avia_config['imgSize']['featured'] = array('width'=>1500, 'height'=>430 ); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider
$avia_config['imgSize']['featured_small'] = array('width'=>990, 'height'=>280 ); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider

Would it be best practice to make the big images for lightbox and portfolio single entries for example the double width, so save it with 1860 pixels and upload them or better 930 pixels?

Any suggestions or white papers for that available?

Thank you
Tom
