Hi ancientgeek,

Plugins should be using very unique styling and function names to eliminate the need for something like this, but you can remove the theme styling of them by going into the css folder of the theme files and opening shortcodes.css. Look for the following:

/*quotes*/

blockquote {
background: transparent url('../images/icons/quotes.png') no-repeat 0 8px;
color:#777;
font-family:Georgia,"Times New Roman",Times,serif;
clear:both;
font-size:1.2em;
font-style:italic;
line-height:1.4em;
margin:10px 0 10px 0;
padding:0 0 0 40px;
}

blockquote p{
padding:11px 0px;
}

And either delete it or comment it out.

Regards,

Devin

Thanks for the swift reply,
I've just tried it and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've double checked the editing within the wordpress editor and that line is definately rem'd out now.
I tried removing the blockquote and re-adding it but that hasn't changed anything.

Hi,

To kill the native blockquote please open /includes/register-shortcodes.php and find line 300 which looks like

add_shortcode('quote', 'avia_sc_quote');

and change it to look like

//add_shortcode('quote', 'avia_sc_quote');

Thanks,

I love the broadscope theme but I hate the blockqoutes. They just don't seem to fit, visually. Rather than edit the css I installed some pullquotes plugins. Unfortunately, the one I like (Gracefull Pullquotes) uses the blockquotes tag and this is used by the theme.
Therefore my big ugly broadscope quotes remain in place. Is there any way I can 'switch off' broadscope's quotation styling?
Thanks.
