Yes, google will index the data attribute however I wouldn't use the caption(s) for (important) content and keywords because there's no context. It's better to insert the keywords/text, etc. to the standard page content and to add a meaningful description to all pages (especially the home page). See: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10174505/is-google-indexing-html-custom-data-attributes

Thanks Devin.

We'll probably pull it out because Yoast seo and fetch as google both seem to think there's no content there.

cheers

Hi ilowelife,

The content in the caption should be replicated in the data-caption and I would be indexed like normal content. I don't know of any penalty or bonus at this point in time for data-captions but the content is there though it probably won't be read like content within a paragraph tag or a header tag since it isn't either of those things.

If you wanted to make that content the main point for searches then you would probably want to pull it out of the slideshow then.

Regards,

Devin

Hello:

I understand from everything I read that Choices was coded to be SEO friendly but I'm a little uncertain about how well the built-in slider plays with Google.

Can someone tell me if the data-caption attribute used for the slider actually gets indexed as page content? When I use a 'fetch as google' on a page that has content in a slider caption, that information does not seem to be read as content. We used a single-frame slider for a series of landing pages and we're unsure whether this is killing SEO.

Should I pull this content out of the slider and find another way to display it?

Thanks
