Ok, so I think I understand where you are going there but I think I have to back up a step. Forget everything I had put in the first post...

I guess my question more simply put is how can I get my woo commerce categories as selections under my "Shop"? As them showing up to the right of the main menu when I hover over the "Shop" button? I know there was some mention of maybe a shortcode? If I use a shortcode, where do I put that short code (in my "shop" page text section?) and is there any customization I need to do to that short code to have it work for me?

Basically, how would you explain this to someone from the beginning who JUST downloaded the flashlight theme and is wanting to know how to do this. I'm sorry that I need more explanation... I really appreciate your patience and help!

Try it again using the custom menu. Visit each category then copy the URL put it on the custom menu URL. :)

Regards,

I forgot to mention, that when you go to my page... visually it looks like I achieved what I want but I did it in the incorrect way so the navigation and end result (leading you to the correct catagory of products) is wrong. I do not know how to make it correct.

I hope this makes sense :-/

Hi there,

I have searched and searched throughout the forums and I haven't been able to find anything that made sense to me. I am using the Flashlight theme and using it mainly for a jewelry based shop, not a portfolio site. This is what I am trying to do:

1. On the main menu have a "SHOP" page in the left menu bar
2. When scrolling mouse over I want five categories to appear to the right: New Items, Rings, Necklaces, Earrings, and Bracelets
3. I want to be able to select each category and that category of products will appear.

Right now what I have done (I know this is wrong but I was just trying to figure something out):
Under "Appearances" --> "Menus"
I have put up a shop page on the main menu. For the sub-pages I then selected to add a "shop" page again and changed the navigation label to the title i wanted it. I did this for all five categories. Obviously, I found out it didn't work because I had selected the same "page" for each of those categories therefore leading it to show the same products on each page despite the title I created for it.

I have read some other forums with similar topics but they didn't seem to make sense to me. I would love a step by step on how to do this.

Here is my site. Don't mind the product photos, they are just space fillers right now. http://www.bpoyandjo.com
