Hi!

Unfortunately WP always center crops the images and you can't change the cropping behaviour. There's a hack: http://shailan.com/781/how-to-change-post-thumbnail-crop-position-in-wordpress/ however it will affect all thumbnails/images...

Regards,
Peter

Sorry, this isn't about your image question, although I think the problem is caused by the wordpress default cropping settings. Probably the easiest way around it is to make the featured images in your posts taller. You can change the default in the functions.php file. That way you are less likely to have the top and bottom areas of the images cropped out.

I actually wanted to say that I like what you did with the transparencies (but that post was closed so I couldn't tag a comment on the end!). I think it works nicely with the theme of your site (I'm a diver too).

Your logo is getting cropped though. You need to make the holding box wider. I think I deleted mine completely and inserted an image across the whole top section. Also, did you try using the boxed layout option? It might look nicer than having the menu bars bleeding off the side. Then your blog would sit floating in the centre above the sea background image.

Good Luck

The featured image defaults to a center position with the <div> at the top of posts. I am missing a key portion of my picture. Is there a way to re-position the featured image to show the portion I would like without actually cropping the image before using it as a featured image? I don't want to crop it as then it will be too small to display in the larger slideshow <div>.
