Hey,
some other users requested this feature too and I reported it to Kriesi some while ago. I'm not sure why he doesn't include it in his themes but based on the comment here: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/dynamic-template-having-a-1-column-option I assume he has good reasons...

I was wondering if it's possible to use the column module within the custom template builder to create a column with one of the columns using the content of the page. I was a little surprised that this function doesn't exist. This would allow me to create a custom template and, for example, use one column for a widget and the other column for the actual content on the page without having to create multiple instances of the custom template. The other option or request would be to use the page, but I'd like to use a short code to create one of the widgets. Any suggestions?
