Hey!

This is possible but it would require some heavy code odifications which are too time intensive - I'm sorry.

Regards,

Anyone? Looking for a way to dynamically populate Featured Media for a portfolio item, using a URL passed through a custom field?

Apologies for the bump. If there aren't any other replies, I'll let this post sink.

Hello all! I'm using Corona as the basis for a user-submitted site. I'm using Gravity Forms to let users enter info, which then saves content using a few custom fields... and then submits the form as a draft blog post.

Since I want to display all the user submitted content as portfolio items, I then use the Post Type Switcher plugin to change those submissions from blog posts over to portfolio items. The one downfall is that I end up needing to manually associate a Featured Media (thumbnail image) for each portfolio item.

I'm curious - is there any way I might be able to automate this process of associating Featured Media to a portfolio item?

To get super technical about the details, the thumbnails/featured media I'm after are YouTube video thumbnails. I'm already getting YouTube URLs as part of my submission form (Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJCPxOleEhk). I can then locate the thumbnail image by plugging in the video ID into this URL: http://img.youtube.com/vi/Video-ID-Here/0.jpg.

I've got most everything else about this process pretty well automated, and the only thing I really need to do manually is to upload a Featured Media image for every portfolio. I realize this question is WAY beyond the scope of regular support, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions I might try to avoid having this be a manual process.

Thanks in advance for your time!

-Felix
