Hey,
to be honest 1 and 2 is beyond the scope of this support forum because they're time intensive customizations and are not related to theme setup directly. However I'll give you hints:

1) The easiest way would be to use a jquery script or a service like: http://twitcker.com/

2) You need to write a new page template here which includes a custom blog post query. Alternatively you can use the sidebar news widget.

3) You can adjust the image dimensions in functions.php. Afterwards you need to adjust the slider css - open up style.css and adjust following code:

#top .slideshow{
height:235px; /*this changes the height of the main image slider*/
width:500px;
overflow: hidden;
position: relative;
list-style-type: none;
padding:0;
margin:0 0 20px 0;
border:none;
}

#top div .slideshowBig{
width:850px;
height:400px;
margin:30px 40px 0 40px;
}

I.e. if you decrease the dimensions in functions.php you need to decrease width + height of the #top .slideshow and #top div .slideshowBig too.

4) You'd need to create a new page template with content widget areas, etc. to achieve what you want. However I think this will require some css and html/php coding and is very likely a time intensive task.

Hi-

I am using drop cap short code on the main page at http://teamredlands.com. My client would like to make the following changes. What is the best way to do this and can I use Widgets in the main page area and if so how?

1. In place of "Rides" put running Twitter and Facebook lines, with 4-5 most recent tweets/posts (this is to draw more attention to our social media and for those not on FB/Twitter to be engaged)
2. Above "Rides" where the Team News is, instead of just the link, put a paragraph from the most recent blog post with the title, to try and draw people in.

3. They also want to know if the heading photos can be smaller and how would I change the dimension.

If the widgets in the home page body don't work, when I set the home page up as the Default Template instead of the Full Width, I saw that the News automatically was on the right side. Is there a way to have the News, facebook and twitter feeds on the right and HOW would I set this up? How do I tell it how many news items to show? Are there nice clean twitter / facebook feeds you can recommend?

Thanks for all your help!
