I would go with jpeg for the background images. Good compression and gives you a lot of control on the quality and size.

Regards,

Devin,

Thank you for the quick response and helpful input.

Regarding background images and pictures in general, what is the best file format to use (JPEG, GIF, TIF, etc)??

Thanks again!

Hi danzac10,

Its a good size that will look good across most screens. As long as you can keep the file size down it should give you a good looking background. There will be some scaling issues however depending the individual users screen size.

Since most people these days use widescreen monitors you could also use something more like 1500 wide by 1000 height. Just as an example, the main background gallery in the demo uses images that are 1500px by 937px.

Hope that helps :)

Regards,

Ismael,

Appreciate the assistance. Is 1500x1500 px the typical dimension set I should apply to all of the pictures I use as the website background?

Thanks again.

Hello,

You can find the image sizes settings on functions.php. Recommended image size is 1500x1500 px.

$avia_config['imgSize']['fullsize'] = array('width'=>1500, 'height'=>1500, 'crop'=>false); // big images for fuöösize slider

Regards,

Fellow Flashlight Users,

I'm having trouble with my Background Images and sizing them appropriately. I've been saving some wallpapers I've designed personally in Photoshop as JPEG's, however when I upload them onto my website, they always turn out much too zoomed in...

I've tried scaling, cropping, etc., but no success thus far.

Is there an ideal dimension set (?? x ??) that should be used for this theme and its backgrounds?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.
