I figured this out, wanted to share. The middle one in the support link above is the right one; the last one Dude gives is for showing a category page as queried above it. For excerpts, I have found that the page-excerpts plugin works just fine and the excerpt does show up in the slider.

I'm confused by that link; it gives several solutions and it's unclear which one to use, as the last one follows a query to do something quite different (linking to a category page). Also, I'm wondering about the excerpts; if I want to display an excerpt in the slider even though it's linking to a page, can I do that? Do I need an excerpts for pages plugin to accomplish it?

Hey,

Hi,

I'd love for my blog slideshow to link to pages instead of categories. The reason is that categories all have sidebars, which ruin my search property page here: http://www.my-portland-home.com/search-properties/search-properties/

Instead I would like to link to this page: http://www.my-portland-home.com/search-properties/

If that is not possible, as a second solution is there a way to turn off the sidebars for a particular category or post?

Thanks!
