We have no other reports that the menu causes errors with shoutbox so I assume it's caused by a plugin or leftovers in the database. Maybe try to make a clean installation (new database, no plugins) and check if this solves your problem. I cleaned out all of my plugins and basically starting this site from scratch. </p>
