Hi,

There is no suggestion, just an idea I had for now. This weekend I will look further at the scope.

Thanks,

Hi,

I've been thinking myself about grid and its a bit involved regarding blog posts. However I think it may be easier to create a second custom post type identical to portfolio but call it news lets say. Now that would be a lot more straight forward since that is cloning a custom post type and the ground work is already there with all the queries, while doing that with blog is virgin territory. All it would require (theoretically) is to find every instance where the word 'portfolio' occurs in the theme and duplicate that section of code calling it portfolio2 (for example).

I am oversimplifying of-course since I've never tried adding two sortable portfolios to 1 custom template to see if that would work. But if it would, then that's half the battle there. I think Dude would have a better handle on whether something like that is possible or there is some hidden issue preventing this approach.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi,

Sure it's possible. Piece of cake for someone like Kriesi to do. But there are two dozen themes, and a schedule. I don't want to put words in his mouth, but he got a game plan as to how the updates are progressing so please be a little more patient. Good things are around the corner. :)

Thanks,

I've just read this in the comments of the Replete theme: "Hey Kriesi, is it possible for you in the next update to add a blog template that displays posts in grid mode? A few other people are interested to know to. Thanks." Is this probably the same issue?

Regards,
Frank

Hi Nick,

thank you. I would like to give it a try. But the preview for a blogpost is not available in the same style then the preview of a portfolio entry. When I add a blog part to the dynamic template of the frontpage, I cannot choose "columns" and "excerpts" for example and all blogpost will be shown one below the other. Can I change that with the Quick CSS?

Frank

PS Wouldn't it be possible to handle a blogpost like a portfolio entry by using the same category attributes?

Hi,

Such functionality (at the moment) is not available, however you can insert 1 latest news/blog posts from category a, then 1 latest portfolio entriy from portfolio-category a, then 1 latest product from store-category a; then again insert blog post but now from category b and so on... in the template builder I am not sure what it will look like, but with some css modification you can probably make it flow.

Thanks,

Hi guys,

it's me again. Sorry for being annoying. But I'm nearly done and I would like to build a page which could be really used.

Would it be possible to have a "News" area at the frontpage (similar to "Latest Products" and "Latest Portfolio Entries" at the sample page), which is feeded by a mixture of a.) newest blogpost b.) newest gallery and c.) new portfolio entry? Depending on the date of entry but in the new portfolio items are teasered in a layout with 4 clolumns side by side for example. Like a kind of news stream.

At the moment I have no idea how to set this up except of doing some things twice. Setting up a blogpost also as portfolio item and the same with a gallery. But this probably will become a bit to complex after a while. Probably you as experts have some better ideas!

Thanks again.

Frank
