Yes, I couldn't use the slideshow option with Kriesis themes (I never cared about it because I prefer the thumbnail gallery). However there are some Nextgen extensions out there (flash slideshows, etc.) which may help you : http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=nextgen&sort=

Yes, those are set as you described. Basically the slideshow option is not compatible with the Newscast template, correct?

Did you deselect " use slideshow" (Gallery tab) and did you select "Thumbnails" instead of "Slideshow" (radio button option)?

Yes, custom effect is selected with the code above. Using the latest newscast, v2.0.2.

The result is a brief spinning wheel.

Flash is disabled. If I disable custom.js (by renaming the file), the slideshow works. Only plugins installed in this instance are Newscast and Nextgen gallery.

Did you select the "custom effect"?
Go to your admin panel > Gallery (Nexgen options panel) > Options
There you'll see Tabs at the top: One tab is callled "effects". Click on it.
Now you select "custom" at Javascript Thumbnail effect and in the field below you write following:

rel="prettyPhoto[%GALLERY_NAME%]"

Nextgen should use the lightbox instead of a slideshow window afterwards. Try to disable any slideshow options (deactivate flash image slideshow and select "and select "show thumbnails" instead of "slideshow".

Hi, thanks for providing the theme update. I've updated to this new package and unfortunately still see the error. If I rename custom.js then the NextGEN gallery will work properly.

Test with only Newscast and NextGEN Gallery plugins installed.

What about if I have made some custom changes in the theme files?

Is there any change log to get notices on which files you have changed?

Hey,
yes the lightbox is outdated - please download the new updated version of Newscast. Go to themeforest.net, login and you can download the theme files in the "download" section.

Hello, I recently purchased the Wordpress Newscast theme from ThemeForest. I have been trying to get it to work with NextGEN Gallery and the Slideshow will not function. It seems there is a conflict between custom.js.

I noticed some people in this thread:
http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/nextgengallery-plugin-working-with-this-theme-need-gallery-instead-of-portfolio
had success changing to: rel="prettyPhoto[%GALLERY_NAME%]"
in the NextGEN Gallery Options. I tried setting this option but the Slideshow still does not show after 2 seconds of trying to load.

Does it require updating prettyPhoto to the beta version they mention?

I'm using Wordpress 3.1, NextGEN Gallery 1.7.4. Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
