Hi,

I contacted my hosting provider and they said that everything is good and that I am able to write over files. I also tried using an FTP to upload the theme. Still nothing. It's still cutting off the post. Any other ideas? Thank you so much for your help.

Thanks,

Hey Redintegration,

It sounds like your server is set up so that the permissions for the wp-content folder can not be overwritten. IE, when you try and install the theme updates the permissions says 'no you can not write over these files'. You should contact your hosting provider and ask them to change the wp-content folder so that you can write to files/write over them from wordpress.

Regards,

Thank you for your response..

But it's still doing it... I deleted the theme from Wordpress, and from my computer, I haven't been using any FTP client. I downloaded the file from themeforest again and re-installed it onto wordpress... and It's still doing the same thing. I saw the attachments that the latest version is 1.8 but when I look at the info for the theme on wordpress it says version 1.7 ... I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Nut sure what else I can do..

Hi,

Please make sure that you first unzip the Theme file you downloaded from Theme Forrest and inside that zip, you will find some instructions as well as a second zip file. That second zip file is the one you need to upload.

You know, that is a really good question. I always use SSH or sftp to add, update or delete themes or plugins so I never have to worry about missing files or security issues. But yes, you would have to either (a) delete the theme first (which will make you lose settings and customizations made to templates and then install the updated version of the theme. or (b) use FileZilla to delete the theme without touching the custom.css file (and don't even deactivating the theme on front end) and quickly transfer the updated files.

***Please make sure you first do a complete database backup as well as have a spare copy of the original theme's files prior to deleting them
in case anything goes wrong.
Thanks,

Nick

Hi,

Thanks for the response and the help.

I did what you mentioned, however, when I upload the theme I get this msg,

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Destination folder already exists. /home3/tillands/public_html/wp-content/themes/flashlight/

Theme install failed.

Do I need to delete the previous folder with the previous zip from my computer first? and then re-upload the new download?

Thanks.

Hi Redintegration,

First try updating wordpress to the most recent update available. Then you can also update the theme files since there is a newer version available as well.

To update the theme just download it from your Downloads on Themeforest again then upload it the same way you first installed the theme. This should fix the issue for you.

Regards,

Hi,

My problem is that my post is cut in half because the page is not expanding to the text. And the text is off too I want it to be all the way to the left. It is better to look at it to really understand what I mean.

This is the link:
http://www.tillandsiacollection.com/shop/mens-shark-tee/

this is how it should look:
http://www.tillandsiacollection.com/shop/

But I don't know how to fix the product page.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
