I actually started a new thread for this question:

http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/category-links-in-single-portfolio-view

Since it is a separate, but related issue to the original.

No, I don't think that's what I need. I do not want to change the next / previous links. I want to change the category links below the meta data in the left column. For example, the post I referenced has links to "manuals" and "spotlights & specials" because I've categorized them as these types of portfolio entries.

http://landlordsource.com/product/policy-procedures-property-management/

However, I don't like the formatting of these archive pages at all. Instead I'd like it to just go back to the previous page, whatever that page was.

Is that your understanding of what i asked?

Hi,

If I understand you corectly you want the <- link to be static and always return to the previous page in the browser history.

Please make a backup and then open up single.php at the base of the theme and on line 49 (around there) , please find a block that looks like this :

<?php previous_post_link('← %link '.__('(previous entry)').""); ?>

and replace it with the block below

← Return to Previous Page

Thanks,

This worked - Thanks for the correction. Any ideas about removing or changing the links that show up on the left under the meta data? Right now it defaults to category links that go to archive pages. I don't want those. I'm hoping I can add a static link to all pages that goes back to whatever page they visited just before landing on this one. Is this possible?

Almost Ismael - The navigation did move, but I received an error. See screenshot posted here:

Hi,

First find this code on loop-portfolio-single.php

 <?php previous_post_link('← %link '.__('(previous entry)','avia_framework')).""; ?>

 <?php next_post_link(''.__('(next entry)','avia_framework').' %link →'); ?>

Above it place this code.

<?php echo "
"; ?>

Now, cut all of it and paste it above this code.

<?php

 echo "
";

 if(avia_post_meta('hero'))
 {
 echo "
";
 the_excerpt();
 echo "";
 echo "
";
 }

 //display the actual post content
 the_content(__('Read more →','avia_framework'));
 echo avia_flag(false);
 ?>

After that find this line of code

echo "
";

Remove it.

I'd also like to replace the portfolio category links on the left with a "back" link that returns them to the category. I do not like the default links because they go to a portfolio archive and I don't know how to control that archive:

http://landlordsource.com/portfolio_entries/property-management-manuals/

I would rather they go back to the category page that I set up:

http://landlordsource.com/policy-and-procedures-manuals/

A simple "Back to Category" button should do it, if you can point me in the right direction.

I would like to move the Previous / Next Item links that show up at the bottom of portfolio entries, like this one:

http://landlordsource.com/product/policy-procedures-property-management/

from the bottom of the portfolio contents to the top, without interfering with the left side.

I found the code in the loop-portfolio-single.php file, but had a hard time figuring out where to move it to. When I moved it to below it did move to the top, but messed with the layout.

Thanks for any help you can give.
