That seems to be the consensus with facebook integration. If you do end up having success figuring it out, be sure to post the solution here as its always nice to get a resolution for this kind of thing :)

Thanks,

Yeah - we seem to have tried them all, but so far no luck. Facebook seems to be a law unto itself...

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hey!

Hey!

Unfortunately I am not very familiar with these kind of things. have you ever tried to find plugins that correctly set the meta data necessary for facebook?

Regards,
Kriesi

Cheers Devin -

We're still having no luck, though I think it's more a Facebook problem than a Corona Theme issue.

Hi Hysteric,

Not that I know of no. I'll forward the issue to Kriesi/other support as I'm not as familiar with open graph.

We have just added this to the Header.php replacing out the <!DOCTYPE HTML>

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml" xmlns:og="http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>

It has allowed us to access the featured image as a thumbnail in Facebook posts, but when these posts are shared or linked by other people, the thumbnail is still being randomly called and not the one specified.

Is there perhaps some code that needs to be added so that the featured image is the default image?

Hi Devin - we have both these plug-ins and have some success with them.

However, even using these plug-ins, we are never given the option to chose the featured image as a thumbnail for the post. This is really important for us for posts that may be short and don't have any images within the body copy, but do have a featured image. But for some reason the featured image (which is often the most appropriate) is not ever an option...?

Thanks

Hi Hysteric,

You can try using this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/facebook-open-graph-meta/ to help facebook correctly identify the post image. Another person had success using a plugin called Meta SEO Pack.

Whenever a link to a post is posted to Facebook, or using the link option in HootSuite, the image that appears in Facebook is not one linked to the article. The Facebook debugger reports the following errors:

Inferred Property The og:image property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

(We have a screen grab of the error report if that helps)
