Actually when you keep the padding unchanged the image should stay centered with the code I provided. To answer your padding question, no - it will change the top and bottom padding of items with an aligncenter class. It doesn't change too much.

Hey,

in your style.css you can change the margin at line 1487 to the following:

.aligncenter {
    clear: both;
    display: block;
    margin: 10px auto !important;
    padding: 10px 0;
}

I am trying to align an image to the center, on the visual it shows that it is centered but when i check the post published it is aligned to the left even though from the image box it is showing center.
I tried it with several posts, left works fine, right works fine but center alignment always takes a left.

example: http://www.klamtam.com/archives/foie-gras-at-fauchon-paris
