I see no reason to update immediately because 3.2 doesn't fix a serious security issue/bug however plugin authors may release plugins and plugin updates which use WP3.2 exclusive functions/code and then you'll need to update (or you can't use the plugin/updated plugin).

I tried this with filezilla and screwed up my site completely. I had to ask my hosting provider to access my back up from a week ago to go back to 3.1. Do I have to upgrade to 3.2? What happens if I don't upgrade to 3.2?

Download version 3.1 from here: http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/ and upload the files to your server (use a ftp software like filezilla). It will ask you to confirm the file replacements. The uploaded files will replace the wordpress 3.2 files.

This is too complicated for me; I have no idea what you are talking about. How do I scroll back to WP 3.1?

Please use a ftp sftware like filezilla to replace the current theme folder in wp-content/themes with the updated folder/files. Unpack the themeforest zip one time. You'll find avisio.zip in the resulting folder. Unpack it again and upload the avisio folder via ftp to wp-content/themes (filezilla will ask you to confirm the file replacement). I'd suggest to make a backup of your current theme folder though (especially backup the stylesheets). If you've modified several files you can just replace the updated files. A file called version.rtf tells you which files need to be replaced.

k, a second attempt at http://themeforest.net/item/avisio-business-and-portfolio/113278
located the yellow box.

downloaded zip, tried installing on WP and was told this:

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Destination folder already exists. /home4/placedan/public_html/englishplace/wp-content/themes/avisio/

Theme install failed.

now what? how do i install what i need from the upgrade on the site to correct the errors on the website?

can i just revert back to WP 3.1 when the theme actually worked properly?

Hey,
login and go to the "Downloads" tab at the top. Alternatively log in and go to: http://themeforest.net/item/avisio-business-and-portfolio/113278 - you'll see a yellow field at the right top were you can download the purchased item.
