I don't quite know what you mean. Can you show an example?

You can try using this plugin instead of modifying the functions file each time: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

Its a bit easier to do things right from within wordpress.

Thank you, Devin! I made a separate image with the same color as my background and now it appears centered. I'm still having problems with the thumbnails though. I downloaded the plugin and regenerated the thumbnails several times, but it doesn't appear to be helping. I'm trying to make them vertical instead of horizontal. Any info would be great!
thanks,
Lisa

Hi lisabcole,

I answered you in response to your other post but I'll re-address it here as well. As far as I know there isn't any good solution for centering images that are smaller than the area.

The issue is that the entire slideshow is set up to stretch the image to fit (if its smaller) and that will adjust it to be responsive and work all around.

Centering inside the container and keeping an image at a smaller size than its designed for starts popping up issue after issue.

The best thing you could do if you want to use images that are much smaller than the area is to put them on a single color canvas in an image editor and then upload that larger image to be used. That way the actual image item stays the size you want, but the image that gets used by the theme is large enough to not cause distortion and other issues.

Regards,

Devin

Will that work to center the small image on the slideshow as well? I tried that, and it didn't work. Can you help?

Hi lisabcole,

I believe you have changed this inside functions.php:

$avia_config['imgSize']['slider_thumb'] = array('width'=>70, 'height'=>50); // slideshow preview pics

Try to use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin after you have saved functions.php.

Regards,
Ismael

Also, is it possible to change the size of the thumbnails for the slideshow. I went into the functions.php file and changed the size, but it didn't work, even after I deleted them and uploaded them again.
Thanks!

Hi,
I posted this question in response to another older thread, but I wanted to open a new support question as well. I want to be able to have a smaller image in the slideshow, but I don't want to use captions. Is there any way to center the small image, instead of having it on the left or right?
Thanks!
Lisa
