@jorgepelaez

Would you please provide a url. I just installed Widget Logic, WPML, Strings & Custom Links Widget to Flagship. I added Custom Links Widgets to the 1st and 2nd widget areas of the footer and everything worked just fine.

Thanks,

Nick

Hi,

The themes are fully compatible with WPML. The problem is that WordPress 3.5 made some very significant changes and it usually takes a bit of time until all the plugins and themes make adjustments not only to include the new features of WordPress but to also ensure compatibility with the updates released by 3rd party plugin developers .

It's never a good idea to update the moment that WordPress releases a new version or a plugin is updated. That's the reason all of your hosts are not using the last versions of PHP or MySQL. They are first waiting for everything to settle down and stabilize for a while (In the case of Debian a really long while) before upgrading.

Kriesi is working round the clock (as always) and the next set of update should be just around the corner. For now, the recommended solution is to use the Widget Logic plugin. It's very convenient, simple, reliable, and in my personal view, the best way to deal with widgets in a WPML environment. With Widget Logic, you deal with all the widgets in all the languages in the same location. That I think is more convenient than flipping back and forth between languages, especially when dealing with a few dozen widgets in multiple languages.

I am making a screen-cast now to show you the workflow with Widget Logic and you judge for yourselves. ( https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8hqGBMSfHtKbzhUN3FZRW9zNmM/edit ).

Thanks,

Hi!

Did you try widget logic: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ to translate the widgets ( http://wpml.org/2011/03/howto-display-different-widgets-per-language/ )? You need to create two widgets (one with English + one with Spanish headline) and then use widget logic to filter them.

Best regards,
Peter

I'm having the same problem with WPML and Flagship, if I change the title into Spanish the English changes too.

The Custom Link Widget breaks my footer.

Any other idea on how to fix this?

Regards.

Hi!

Tbh I don't think it's a problem with the theme. You can try to switch to another one like TwentyTwelve and check if the string translation of the widgets works with this theme.

Best regards,

Hey!

Quiet confusing as the Theme is sold fully compatible with WPML.
A bit disappointing, event though there seems to exist a workaround.

Hey!

Yes, however our theme does not affect the string translation feature and I'm not sure why it doesn't work in this case.

Sorry, but WPML provides a translation strings functions that should work for Widgets.
It doesn't for my website yet, but I will try harder !

Hi,
you can use widget logic: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/ to translate the widgets. A tutorial can be found on the official WPML website: http://wpml.org/2011/03/howto-display-different-widgets-per-language/

An other question :
With WPML, I checked "show messages even if they are not translated"
And they are in the blog, but the widgets "categories" and Latest News" are empty !
How do I get messages in the widgets ?
I have to translate (duplicate) posts in 2 the second language ?
Thanks

Hi,
Coherence 1.3 / WPML 2.6.0 (with 2.6.3 pb with portfolio)
How translate the widgets with WPML (search, links, etc.) ?
Texts are in the po files and mo, because before instal WPML, the translation of the theme in English (default) to French was done ok.
With WPML in the admin I choose a language and I change the title of the widget, but the change is for the 2 languages???
Anyone know the how to do ?
Thanks
