If you go to the editor page in your Dashboard --> Appearance --> Editor and then click the comments.php to the right you should see the code for that page in the center. Next if you scroll down just a little bit till you see some code that looks like this:

<?php else : // this is displayed if there are no comments so far ?>

	<?php if ('open' == $post->comment_status) : ?>
<!-- If comments are open, but there are no comments. -->
write your sentence her
<?php else : // comments are closed ?>
<!-- If comments are closed. -->
<p class="nocomments">Comments are closed.</p>

	<?php endif; ?>

The mistake in my dreamweaver CS5.5 editor is on line 32. Well once you find you 'write your sentence her' basically just delete it and then update the file and you should be good to go.
