  • Hi Vanwynsberghe Bart,

You cannot update the theme anymore using API key with Enfold 4.0.7, you’ll need to use a personal token for that, in order to generate it, please follow the instructions in our documentation: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token

    Please do the following process:

    First make a backup:
    – Site Backup: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/backup-wordpress-site/
    – Theme Settings Backup: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/backup-theme-settings/

Option 1: Use Envato Market to update your site
    – link: https://envato.com/market-plugin/

    Option 2: Update manually
    1. Login to ThemeForest and download the Enfold theme, right-click over the downloaded zip file and extract/unzip it.
    2. It should generate a new folder, open it and look for the enfold folder
    3. Right-click the enfold folder then zip it, here’s a tutorial on how to create a zip file in windows: https://www.howtogeek.com/668409/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-on-windows-10/ (this should create enfold.zip
    4. Log in to WordPress as and Admin.
    5. Install and activate a maintenance plugin and put your site in Maintenance mode.
    6. Go to Appearance > Themes, switch to a default WordPress theme like TwentyTwenty then delete Enfold.
    7. Click on the ADD NEW button.
    8. Click on the UPLOAD THEME button.
    9. Click BROWSE and choose enfold.zip file
    10. Click the INSTALL NOW button and switch to Enfold or your child theme.
    11. Remove the maintenance mode then deactivate and remove the maintenance plugin.

Then register the theme by following the instructions in https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Once this is done, the next time you update, you’ll only need to go to Enfold > Theme Updates and click on the Update button.

Once the latest version of Enfold is installed and activated, update your PHP version from 7.4 to 8.2.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi
In theme options > General styling Font tab I’ve changed the font family for both Headings and Body and saved changes but there is no change on the front end. This is a staging site.
    I did:
    cleared browser cache
    Purged all LiteSpeed caches
    Updated Enfold to 5.6.9
    disabled all plugins
    activated twentytwentyfour theme
What could be the reason these changes are not applied?
BTW both front and back ends load super slow at times, even on text only pages. Seems like the server response time is adequate.
    Thanks

    Hi Enfold team,
a few days ago after the WordPress core update to 6.3.2 an issue started on the backend, when editing Woocommerce products using the classic editor. I have done several tests on my staging site and it is clear, the issue comes from the Avia framework (Enfold 5.6.6). If I switch to another theme like twentytwenty, the issue is gone. Having that said, here are the specifics:

On Woo product pages the classic editor (visual editor) is not accessible. The editor field is stuck on the “code editor” but at the same time the html code is displayed WHITE, so that at first it seems there is nothing. Only when highlighting text, one can see it. At the same time the Layout-Architect button does not work anymore.

Here is what I have tested so far:
    * Theme: switching to another theme resolves the issue
    * Theme: switching between Enfold child and Enfold does NOT resolve the issue -> no child-theme issue …
    * Plugins involved: I have deactivated all plugins aside from Woo and then activated them sequentially. The test revealed that the conflict between core 6.3.2 and Avia occurs, when Gridbuilder plus WP Mail SMTP or Yaost Duplicate Post are active. I have rolled back those plugins, to test recent changes, but that’s not doing anything. Also, the problem dissapears with all those plugins active, when standard themes are use. Thus, all points to the Avia framework.

I have gotten support from Gridbuilder. They tested all from their side and also did not find any issue in other themes. They suggested to look nto conflicts between Enfold and the latest WP Core update …

Strange fact: While it is impossible to work with the editor for WordPress products, the editor behaves normally for posts, pages, etc. It is a very specific issue for WordPress products only.

    Here are some screenshots:
    Conflict behaviour

Conflict behaviour wth highlighted text in editor field

Additional info: I ran error display while testing and got no error massages. There is no issue on the frontend …

Could you please look into that issue? For now, I can work around it when I need to edit products. However, it needs to be fixed. What I fear is that the issue spreads to other classic editor input fields like for pages and posts when wp core further evolves.

    Thank you and kind regards
    Michael

    Hi and good afternoon,

I´ve updated WordPress, all Plugins and the envold theme to the actual version 5.6.6. I use PHP 7.4.33.
At the backend are Javascript errors at different areas (You have to activate Javascript). In the health section, mediathek grid view and of course the envold editor on the web pages doesn´t start.

I have deactivated all Plugins, and changed also to the old version. Completely the same. It works just under the twentytwenty-three theme.
So there is a bug in the theme itself.

Could you please take a look?

    Thanks and best regards

    Hi grafix_,

You’re correct, it will not work because Enfold 4.4.1 was released June 2018, while PHP 8 was just released November of 2020.
You will need to update Enfold to the latest version for it to work properly.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Nathan Fromstein,

    Thanks for contacting us!
And yes, you will need to repurchase Enfold again so you can update Enfold on your live site.

The current version you are using is still using the old API (username and API key) which envato has already deprecated therefore you can’t update it with the usual method.

Also, the password is incorrect but I think the problem should be fixed by updating to the latest version since Enfold 4.1 was released July 2017 while PHP 7.4 was released November 2019, so incompatibility would most likely occur.

If update is successful on the staging site then please proceed to update the live site.

Then register the theme by following the instructions in https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Once this is done, the next time you update, you’ll only need to go to Enfold > Theme Updates and click on the Update button.

If update is not successful then, please give us temporary admin access to your staging site and we’ll try to check further.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi KurandaAmphitheatre2022,

Please try to do the following:

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

The style of the block editor looks different compare to the default themes because we added our own theme.json file. If you want to revert it back, just create a copy of the theme.json file from the twentytwentytwo theme and override the same file in the Enfold theme directory.

For more info about the theme.json file, please check this documentation.

    // https://developer.wordpress.org/block-editor/how-to-guides/themes/theme-json/

    Hi,

I don’t think contacting WordPress support is all that difficult: https://wordpress.org/support/welcome/. The people on that forum should be in a much better position to help you out, since they support the default features in WordPress. We are obviously focused on our own product, and we don’t always know how things should work in regards to default WordPress features.

The padding setting is not available when Enfold is the active theme, so that might be a theme problems, but I would have to clarify that with our developers. It’s available if you activate Twentytwentyone for example: https://snipboard.io/f9rcA7.jpg

    Hi,
I’ve just installed a locally hosted LAMP stack on a virtual machine. The WordPress health check looks good, cURL is working and the PHP 7.4.28 has an increased memory limit of 512 MB. There are no plugins installed yet, just a WordPress core plus enfold 4.9.2.1. Here’s the problem: while the frontend pages load quickly, all admin pages load painfully slow – it takes about 15 sec. to fully load any page (e.g. the WP media library). Firefox inspector tells me that it takes ages for the server to answer the clients request – I just don’t know why.
However, as soon as I replace the current enfold 4.9.2.1 with a previous one (4.7.xx), all admin pages are loaded in under a second. Same thing with a default WordPress theme like twentytwenty: every admin page appears super fast. Unfortunately, I can’t provide you with login credentials for the website since it sits behind a firewall. Do do you have any suggestions on this anyway?

Thanks in advance & kind regards,
    Christian

    Hi Chad Milburn,

    Thanks for contacting us!

Please do the following but first make a backup:

I downloaded the site to do a conflict test. I switched themes and tried with both Storefront and twentytwentytwo, and the problem was still there. I also disabled all the plugins, except WooCommerse itself, no change. So as far as I can tell, Enfold does not seem to be the problem. If anything comes up, I will let you know.

    Hi!

We have a blog page built via Advanced Layout Editor. This consists only of a slider and the “Blog posts” content element. No special category was chosen so that all posts are displayed.

In the base language (German) all blog posts are displayed. However, as soon as you translate this page into another language (using the translation editor), posts of type “nav_menu_item” are displayed in this language. At least this case occurs if no blog post has been translated yet.

Changing the theme to another theme (e.g. TwentyTwenty) shows the typical “no posts available” page, so it can be assumed that the error exists on the part of Enfold.

And I just replicated the issue with the twentytwenty theme – so it may not be the theme after all. I’m also investigating with my provider…

Hello, I just set up a new site with Enfold and the Church theme.

Everything works great until I update the WordPress settings to use https When I do, I get the “Too many redirects” message and I can’t access the site or the wordpress admin. I spent some time troubleshooting with my provider and we ultimately found the theme to be the issue.

If I revert back to http (via phpMyAdmin) site comes back. If I activate any other theme, e.g. twentyTwenty, https works fine.

If I set the WP setting to http but access the site at https things also work. It’s only when I change the WordPress settings that the redirect message comes up.

I found a couple of other similar threads and tried updating the .htaccess file but the error persists.

    Can you help?

    Hey boelgebryder,
Thank you for your question and the link to your site, since it is showing a critical error message it is hard to tell the actual condition of the data of the site, but you can try this:
via FTP if there is a WordPress core theme in the /wp-content/themes/ with the Enfold theme such as /twentytwentyone/ you should be able to rename the /enfold/ directory to anything else, such as /enfold-old/ and WordPress will typically load the core theme as a fallback. You may have to reload the homepage a couple of times.
Once the core theme loads you should be able to login and see the condition of the site, posts, pages, ect.
Also check if the WordPress core needs to be updated and if your server is using PHP v7.4 as a minimum, you can check this at WordPress ▸ Tools ▸ Site Health

If the pages & posts are there, they probably will show shortcode on the frontend and look a mess, but don’t worry, you can purchase a new Enfold license with your own new account and download the theme zip file from Theme Forest, you will see two links in your account, download the “Installable WordPress file only” option.

Then to update your version of Enfold you can upload it to your WordPress ▸ Appearance ▸ Themes ▸ Add Themes ▸ Add New
    WordPress_Appearance_Themes_Add-Themes_Add-New.jpg
after you choose the zip file and click install, you will see a This theme is already installed message because you are updating, you can continue
    Installing_theme_from_uploaded_file_This_theme_is_already_installed.jpg
then you will see the Theme updated successfully message.
    Theme_updated_successfully.jpg

Hopefully, this will help bring your site back online and the critical error message is not a result of something malicious.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Karin,

The same error message is displayed when the default WordPress theme is active too, is it the same problem in Enfold and TwentyTwentyOne then? https://snipboard.io/TAsFQ7.jpg

    /homepages/4/d144672631/htdocs/wordpress21/wp-includes/template-loader.php on line 106

This is a WordPress file, I can’t tell you why it’s throwing those warnings though. If you tried to reinstall WordPress, it might solve the problem though.

Edit; please try updating your PHP version to 7.4 or higher as well.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi,

    1. Please see private for what I see on my end, the members are not showing up at all. I do see the problem on the author page you linked to though, but the warnings are pointing to WordPress files, and the same thing happens when I activate the Twentytwentyone theme. Could you try to reinstall WordPress to see if that helps? If not, then please try disabling all plugins, to see if that changes anything.

    2. I’m seeing the same thing on my end, it makes no difference if I’m logged in or out. Could you try using a different browser to see if that helps please?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi,

    Thanks for that.

    1. I can’t see any members at all on my end, and it doesn’t seem to be working when I activate the Twentytwentyone theme either. Could you try reaching out to the developers of the plugin you are using for support please?

    2. I’m not sure I understand this problem, is it the slider on the front page you are referring to? If so, then please post a screenshot of the problem, and let us know what you want to change.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
