    Hi,

    How can I add a 6th column in the footer? So that it is showing up in the theme options an a 6th widget can be added to it.

    Hey,

    1.) Edit footer.php, find this code:

    $firstCol = 'first';
    switch($columns)
    {
    case 1: $class = ''; break;
    case 2: $class = 'one_half'; break;
    case 3: $class = 'one_third'; break;
    case 4: $class = 'one_fourth'; break;
    case 5: $class = 'one_fifth'; break;
    }

    Replace it with this:

    $firstCol = 'first';
    switch($columns)
    {
    case 1: $class = ''; break;
    case 2: $class = 'one_half'; break;
    case 3: $class = 'one_third'; break;
    case 4: $class = 'one_fourth'; break;
    case 5: $class = 'one_fifth'; break;
    case 6: $class = 'one_sixth'; break;
    }

    2.) Edit includes > admin > register-admin-options.php, find this code:

    "subtype" => array('1'=>'1','2'=>'2','3'=>'3','4'=>'4','5'=>'5'));

    Replace it with:

    "subtype" => array('1'=>'1','2'=>'2','3'=>'3','4'=>'4','5'=>'5', '6'=>'6'));

    3.) Edit includes > admin > register-widget-area.php, find this code:

    #footer
    $footer_columns = avia_get_option('footer_columns','5');

    Replace it with:

    #footer
    $footer_columns = avia_get_option('footer_columns','6');

    4.) Add this on your custom.css or Quick CSS:

    div .one_sixth { overflow: hidden; z-index:1; margin-left: 3%; width:14.0%; float:left; position:relative; }

    5.) Go to Coherence > Footer > Footer Columns > Select 6 columns.

    6.) Go to Appearance > Widgets then add widgets on the 6 Footer – column widget areas.

    Hi Ismael,

    Thanks for a quick response and clear instructions!

    Everything seems to work fine except for the 6 columns are now stacking below each other instead of next to each other.

    Your footer widgets didn’t receive the “one_sixth” div class. Please check.

    Hi,

    I double checked this and the changes actually are at place in the footer, basically the addition is: case 6: $class = ‘one_sixth’; break;

    Right?

    What am I missing out here?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the patience! I found the glitch, I did the update to the Coherence theme instead of the activated child template. The reason I forgot this is that for some reason the changes I make in the custom.css file in the child template don’t have any effect and thus I have to fork around with the custom.css in the Coherence theme. But that’s another issue.
