im trying to get a custom template working (based on page.php). I have done everything, including naming the template as normal in wordpress. However, I cannot select the template in the normal way. The theme replaces the standard layout box with its own options.

How can I make it so I can select my own template in that list?

    Hi timtoolman,

If you’re creating a custom template based off of the template file page.php then you need to add the Template Name at the top. Once you’ve done that and upload the template file to the theme’s directory then you should see the new template under “Template” in the “Page Attributes” box.

So the first few lines of your file would look something like this:

    * Template Name: My New Template

Remember you can also create a new template by using the Template Builder under the Angular tab.

    Hope this helps!

in this theme that doesnt work. the template selection dropdown is not present, instead theres a custom admin box called “layout” in which you can set the template. however, my own does not show.

update: oh wait! i just switched to and from twentyeleven back to angular. and now i DO see the dropdown in page attributes! must have been something weird making it not register or something.

    oh well, thanks! my bad.

Glad that Mya could help you :)

    Best regards,
