I want to add an Author section at the bottom of the blog post, just before the Comments. I can't seem to find any information on this in the documentation or forums.

Afaik Flagship does not offer such a feature out of the box but you can use plugins like: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-about-author/ or another plugin from here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=author+bio
