    Hi All,

    As always thanks for the great theme!

    I’m looking to add Portfolio titles to my customer’s portfolio page, similar to how the portfolio items are displayed when they are listed below a single entry in “Related Entries”. Here is a link to the page: http://www.genevalakewest.com/cms/index.php/membership/

    This way, the companies that I do not have logos for will at least be listed on this page, instead of having holes in the portfolio where they should be.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tom C.

    Hi Tom,

    You can choose to display a portfolio items title and excerpt in the individual portfolio options for that page. This would be in either the dynamic template Portfolio element or the Theme Options>Portfolios options depending on how you have the page set up.

    Devin

    Hi Devin,

    I’ve tried this, but it displays the title and the full text for each portfolio item. I’m currently not using excerpts because of the extra work of creating them all. Is there a way to modify the theme to only display the thumbnail and the title? For reference please use the link from my first post.

    Regards,

    Tom

    I believe you can use the more tag to also differentiate excerpt areas from the main body of the post and not just the excerpt alone. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

    You can also try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

    #top .template-portfolio-overview .portfolio-sort-container .entry-content {
    display: none;
    }

    Thanks, Devin! Your code as placed in the Quick CSS did the trick. Exactly what I was looking for.

    Hi Devin,

    To take this a step further, how can I control the font size, font color, upper/lowercase of the portfolio titles. The customer wants something a little more subtle than the arial bold uppercase black.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Here is a link to one of the pages that I would like to customize:

    Hi Tom,

    You can target the column titles with:

    .flex_column h1 {
    font: 13px/1.3em "HelveticaNeue", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
    margin-bottom: 6px;
    font-weight: bold;
    text-transform: uppercase;
    letter-spacing: 1px;
    }

    Generally, if you want to modify any individual section or item you can use something like Firebug for Firefox or Chomre/Safari’s inspect feature to pull up the dev tools that will let you see what class selector(s) to target with css.

    See: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/fyi-firebug-tutorial-for-wordpress-users

    Devin,

    Thanks for all of the help, this worked perfectly! I’m just starting to get into CSS / WordPress so I will definitely check out the tutorial.

    Regards,

    Tom
