I am using the propulsion theme with wooCommerce and wonder if it is easily possible for me to remove the add to cart / show details overlay on the images when viewing all products and products by category.
What I want is really only to see the image, then clicking the image will take me through to the single image page where I can add to cart.
The problem is it’s causing me a real problem because I am developing an artist site and then want all there image t maintain the exact aspect ratio. Some of those images are panoramic so the add to cart / show details overlay is getting lost due to the image size.
See example: http://22.214.171.124/artofoxford.co.uk/shop/ (Sue Cook 2)February 23, 2012 at 6:27 pm #65193
Looks like you might have figured this out in the past few hours! Looking at the Sue Cook image I don’t see the overlay.
Going to mark this as Resolved, let us know if you have any other issues that need tackling :)February 23, 2012 at 7:02 pm #65194
No, I actually changed the shopping cart in order to achieve it. Would much prefer to use w00Commerce but I have to be blunt and say the add to cart and show details overlaying the product images is not good. Everything else about the Kriesi e-commerce enabled themes is great except that.
Everyone I have shown the themes to gets thrown by the way the add to cart overlay hovers on an image. Really need the option to have an industry standard add to basket button under the image and simply click image for more details.
Perhaps I am the only one seeing this but I rather doubt it.February 23, 2012 at 8:31 pm #65195
I guess its an aesthetic not everyone enjoys. If you do want to get rid of them buttons and use WooCommerce, I found the following solution in another thread with the same question:
Open up the config.php file located inside the config-woocommerce folder (which is inside the main propulsion theme folder).
Right around line 447 you will need to replace:
echo get_the_post_thumbnail( get_the_ID(), 'shop_catalog' );
echo "<a class='button show_details_button $extraClass' href='".get_permalink($post->ID)."'>".__('Show Details','avia_framework')."</a>";
echo "<a class='' href='".get_permalink($post->ID)."'>".get_the_post_thumbnail( get_the_ID(), 'shop_catalog' )."</a>";
I tested it out just now and it doesn’t seem to effect any other design features. I’ll bring it up to kriesi to possibly add an admin button to turn this on/off in a future release.February 26, 2012 at 8:46 am #65196
Thanks for this I will try it out now. Presumably though this will be affected with any theme or plugin updates.
It is not so much an aesthetic concern. I have had 6 people test out the dev site I am building using the Propulsion theme. Now granted they are novice web users but then that really is the people you want to make sure can use the system easily. They were all a little freaked out by the way the add to cart hovered over the image and had real trouble, at least to start with, getting the mouse accurately placed.
For people like you and I it may seem easy but I have to make sure any idiot can use the site otherwise, particularly with a shopping site users may go elsewhere.
