   Is there a way to have a sidebar showing a widget show on the main page? (in content area below slider)

   Hi,

   I'm not sure what you're asking here, do you want a sidebar that isn't on the side but in the center .. in the content area below the slider?
   Could you elaborate your question please?

   In the meantime, for adding EXTRA widget areas I find this to be a very useful tutorial.

   You can set a static frontpage (Settings > Reading) - i.e. you could select a page with sidebar as frontpage. It's not possible to use the default homepage (slider page) with a sidebar.
