If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
First of all, thanks for all the top themes. We are a bit of a fan here.
One of our clients have a lot of images to show in the portfolio. We created a folder called assets which we have put the images in.
when it comes to adding the images to the portfolio, there is no option to insert these images by its url. Is there a way we could modify the code to allow us to add the images by url?
The images need to be processed by the theme functions to get all the various sizes created. Otherwise you would always be loading in the largest image size needed even when only a thumbnail is being displayed. Because of this, no I don’t believe it would be easily possible (if it is) to modify it to work.
You could use the regular media upload from wordpress to select and upload the files in the assets folder all at once however and then just use the media tab (instead of uploading) when creating the portfolio items.
