I've changed my front page so that it displays an excerpt instead of the beginning of a post. I'd like to add a thumbnail of the featured image to the side of the excerpt though. Any idea how I can do that?

Never mind, I figured it out.
I added this code in the format-standard.php file:
if(!is_single())
{
echo "<p class='excerptimage'>" . get_the_post_thumbnail($id, array(120,120), array('class' => 'alignright')) . get_the_excerpt() . "</p>";
}
