Instead of creating a “Portfolio Item” for each photo (we want to show 50-100), is there a feature available in Angular to do this (can “PrettyPhoto Lightbox” be made to do this?), or should we use an “image gallery” plugin? (like NextGEN, etc.). We would like something that would have a ‘grid’ format (to match the Angular ‘look’). Only ‘simple’ display functionality is required. [There’s a lot out there, and we just want to be sure it works “nice” with Angular].
You can just use the wordpress gallery function if you want it to be basic. It would be like this: http://www.kriesi.at/themes/angular/template-files/gallery/
NextGEN may still be your best option if you want a bit more management of the images.
Since this is going to be a very ‘large’ site (400-500 portfolio items), will “NextGEN” slow down our site more than “gallery”?
You would want to use pages with the NextGEN in that case. Or if NextGEN can use lazy loading, then you could do that. I have not used it in a while so I don’t remember if it does or not and it gets updated all the time so it may have added some other features that would work for really big galleries since then.
