howdy!
can anyone tell me how i can set a big photo all across the screen? (like in the live-demo)
when i do, it is just a bit in the top, but never all across the screen.

Best thing you can do is import demo data and take everything apart to see how its made.
However to create the look of the front page you will need (a) one large background image 1000x650 in size (orange image with sun.)' (b) 3-4 slider images.
1) Create a Flagship > Dynamic Template. (see image for settings http://i.imgur.com/eEMTN.png )
2) Create a Page and attach the custom template you just made to the page and use the following settings, I put a red box around where you add the custom template. ( http://i.imgur.com/wqzng.png )
3) in Flagship > Theme Options > Frontpage Settings select the page you just created in step 2.
