Hello i am getting a duplicate link in my breadcrumbs e.g.
Home -> News -> Category -> News (again) -> Blog TittleFebruary 17, 2013 at 4:13 pm #107602
Got the same problem on product categories page:
Home » Market » Market (again) » Category_nameFebruary 18, 2013 at 8:22 am #107603
Hi sobrilliant and Kirill,
Can you post the permalink you use and post a link to your which has those duplicate breadcrumbs.
IsmaelFebruary 18, 2013 at 9:25 pm #107604
certainly :) im using the default permalink setup for replete
i simply added rich snippet support to it. i reverted it back to default file to see if my changes was causing this and they wasnt as it still happened
also, on product pages, its not parsing product category properly, i’ve noticed this because even though i’ve added rich snippet support to the breadcrumbs file its not adding the rich snipper support to the product category
it should be shop -> buy facebook likes
hope this helpsFebruary 19, 2013 at 4:18 pm #107605
Your permalink setting is actually adding a category which is, I believe the root of the breadcrumb duplication. Go to your Settings>Permalink and try changing it to Default or just Postname and see if that helps.

hello, i set it to “post name” and the error still occured, for seo purposes i have reverted it but here is a screenshot..

Try disabling all your plugins, I’m not sure if the issue will be gone by disabling all plugins but it might be worth a try.

As of now, I can’t think of any possible solutions. Let me tag the rest of the support to help us with this issue.

When you change the permalink setting to just postname, make sure to refresh your page 3-4 times and if you have any caching plugin active make sure to de-activate it as well.February 22, 2013 at 6:45 pm #107611
What would happen if you added a 3rd category , how would the duplicating url change? What if you removed Social Media News and added some other category, which category (if any) would start duplicating? What is the relationship between the categories, are they siblings or parent/child relationship?
NickFebruary 23, 2013 at 2:44 am #107612
hi guys great support :) i did clear the cache whilst testing with all plugins off @devin. and simple permalink
@nick.. social media news isnt a category its a physical page (the blog page?) im using the following permalink structure; /%category%/%year%/%postname%/ and the indivdual post link is https://www.friendlysocialboost.com/facebook-news/2013/facebook-purges-fake-accounts/
i’ve added a third category to the post FB Sub, and its a child of the parent facebook news. Nothing has altered to the permalink
because this is a brand new store we are opening as our other online store is doing just as succesful, i can provide some login info? no customer details have been processed yet as we are awaiting some final changes?February 23, 2013 at 8:46 am #107613
Lets take a step back.
You have (Home) > Social Media News > Facebook News > Social Media News > (Current page). as your breadcrumbs
Social Media News ( https://www.friendlysocialboost.com/social-media-news/ ) is a blog home (thats a fact). If you go to Replete > Theme Options and on that page you see your designation for which page is Home Page, and which page is Blog page. (a) What does it show your Blog main page to be?
(b) If you also look in Settings > Reading , what is designated as your Posts Page?
(c) And If you look in Settings > Permalinks , do you have ‘Facebook News’ set as a Category Base while also you changed name of category ‘Uncategorized’ to ‘Facebook News’?
If you are using duplicate category names I can see why you are having this issue. I setup a Replete and the breadcrumbs work fine.
Please check your site for duplicates, answer my questions and if you can’t find the duplicate , please send me a login/pw to usjahm (at) gmail (dot) com.

Can you try setting the WordPress option to just show “Your Latest post” instead of designating a home page and blog page. Just let the theme options take care of that and see if there was an issue with the two options overlapping.February 25, 2013 at 4:13 pm #107616
that seemed to do the trick :) thank you for the support :)
is there any easy way to make your breadcrumbs support rich snippet tools?February 25, 2013 at 8:13 pm #107617
I am not 100% sure the format that Google is expecting for those snippets. Do you mean this is the look: http://www.clipular.com/c?2246500=ZWtTkUVWYe2oq2IhKF0HPnqKuns
If that is rich snippet breadcrumbs , the code for them is below and it looks like navxt plugin generates it ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/ )
<!-- Breadcrumb NavXT 4.0.2 -->
<a title="Go to Home." href="http://www.b-p.com">Home</a> >
<a title="Go to Casino News." href="/casino-news/">Casino News</a> >
<a title="Go to the Mobile Gambling category archives." href="/casino-news/mobile-gambling-news/">Mobile Gambling</a> >

that is correct using rich snippets, i manually inserted the relevant tags needed to generate it, and as you can see here
its picking up the “shop” snippet but missing out the other link.
In your breadcrumbs file its a simple case of wrapping the anchors in the relevant tags for breadcrumbing but i think i must have missed a part of the code and not wrapped it?
each hyperlink needs to be wrapped like thisCode:<div itemscope itemtype=”http://data-vocabulary.org/Breadcrumb”>
<div itemscope itemtype=”http://data-vocabulary.org/Breadcrumb”>
<span itemprop=”title”>Real Dresses</span>
<div itemscope itemtype=”http://data-vocabulary.org/Breadcrumb”>
<span itemprop=”title”>Real Green Dresses</span>
</div>March 4, 2013 at 12:48 pm #107619
Yes, http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=185417 . Though your example above is missing the anchor tag. Maybe you should try the second format on that page to see if it gets detected .
