    Hi I was hoping you could help me with the code to make the “Read More” button go to external links (in new windows please) as well as the Picture and title for each portfolio item. I tried to implement the code from this thread and was successful in getting custom fields to show up but not setting up external links as I believe the code is slightly different for brightbox. Thanks (I posted this on accident under general questions. I’m reposting here so this can be addressed. Please delete the other thread)

    Hi sjsanford3,

    Do you have a link to what you have so far? I’m not quite sure how best to proceed without seeing whats been done at this point.

    Thanks for getting back. The link to an example page is here:

    Take the first portfolio item for example. It say “290 Guadalupe” and I need this title as well as the “read more” button to go to external links and open in new windows. If you take a look at the code included in the thread link I posted up top you will see that that is almost exactly what I need, but tweaked to work with brightbox. Please advise…

    Open up includes/loop-portfolio.php and replace:

    echo '<a class="more-link" href="'. get_permalink().'">'.__('Read more','avia_framework').'</a>';

    echo '<a target="_blank" class="more-link" href="'. get_permalink().'">'.__('Read more','avia_framework').'</a>';

    Thanks but that doesn’t do what I’m looking for. Please refer back to the link from my original post. It discusses how to use meta data to designate if a portfolio item should link to an outside page. In my case I need both the words “290 Guadalupe” and the “read more” button to open to a link that I specify and not to the post for the portfolio item. I believe the thread I link at the beginning is very close to what I need, the only difference being I need it coded for brightbox, and I need the links to open in a new tab.

    Hi sjsanford3,

    Unfortunately I think what you are looking for is beyond what we can offer with support. What you need to happen would require multiple new meta data fields for each item and then adding that output into the theme file for the items so that they get displayed.

    I would suggest looking into a freelance web developer if you are not familiar with adding that kind of thing on your own.
