Hello,

I noticed that in BrightBox, the portfolio post is almost exactly like a regular blog post... The only thing is, there are no tags. I want to use the portfolio posts instead of normal blog posts because then I can make use of the immense flexibility of the theme builder for making automated page templates that generate portfolio posts on static pages. The only problems are that if I do this, the related post options wont work (because there aren't tags for portfolio posts) and the cool combo widget is for blog posts, not portfolio posts.

The theme builder has an affinity for portfolio stuff, not blog stuff, so i want to use it to its fullest potential.

I'm really new to wordpress, this is my first site and I'm really trying, but i'm kinda stuck.

How do i Make it so that Portfolio posts work like blog posts?

Update, I finally looked in the first place I should have looked!! (FAQ)!! And I found a couple posts you guys made that i believe will help me, but since i'm so new to this... can you tell me in really easy terms (I'm so sorry to take up your time):

1.How to add tags to prtfolio posts?
2.How to make Brightbox combo widget display portfolio NOT blog?
3.Do I alter this in Custom file so I can upgrade and not lose these mods?

Hey,
1) Open up brightbox/includes/admin/register-portfolio.php and replace:
```
'supports' => array('title','thumbnail','excerpt','editor','comments')
```
with:
```
'supports' => array('title','thumbnail','excerpt','editor','comments'),
		 'taxonomies' => array('post_tag')
```
2) Open up brightbox\framework\php\class-framework-widgets.php and replace:
```
avia_get_post_list('showposts='. $posts .'&orderby=post_date&order=desc');
```
with:
```
avia_get_post_list('post_type=portfolio&showposts='. $posts .'&orderby=post_date&order=desc');
```
3) I don't know a hook which allows you to modify the classes/functions. You can try to extend existing classes however you'll need to include your code in the theme files nevertheless....

lol! me too! and, by the way, they worked great! the portfolio posts have optional tags now, and the widget displays them :) you are awesome

P.S. I liked the functionality of the theme so well, I thought to look for that 'builder' functionality for posts... and I actually found it! its a plugin on codecanyon by Mixie, called "Visual Composer for WordPress" ...... would you mind looking at the demo and sharing your thoughts? that plugin with the avia framework would be AWESOME

You can apply "page templates" to posts and pages (or at least I think so :D )....

oh, I understand that :)... This plugin is really something to check out! if it doesnt screw with the template builder, and it works flawlessly, I'll let you know... If you have the time, would you look at it? I'd love to know what you think!

Looks pretty cool. However I can't tell you if it works with our themes because I haven't tested it personally.

just to let you know, it does! flawlessly! just set it to modify posts, not pages (cause Brightbox already does pages really well) and the theme and that plugin make a really user friendly experience.

by the way, simple press forums (free) also work great! I didn't see that one on your list of plugins either :)

It's there: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/useful-plugins - just a short recommendation but it's mentioned. To be honest I'm not a big fan of SimplePress because it loads to slow for a forum. BBPress plugin will be a better alternative (imho) when it's final. There're some css glitches and conflicts with our theme too. When I've some free time I'll check the composer plugin :)

OK, cool! And... I checked into the BBPress plugin, you're totally right, it seems way lighter, and actually looks really good if you are able to implement it properly. That being said, how the hell do you get it to work with Brightbox??lol?? I would love it to just seemlessly work, as far as brightbox to have a template for it that is easy from the frontend and from the backend, any suggestions?

Currently newer themes like Broadscope, etc. are not compatible with bbpress but I'm sure we'll make them compatible with the final version.
