Can pages be used as portfolio items?
I would like the thumbnails from the portfolio to originate from pages.
This is so they act as a short cut to pages that can also be found in the navigation menu.
What you can do is to create a page then create a portfolio item, upload an image and look for “Apply Link to image?”, link it manually to the page.
Thanks for your prompt response :)
When the text is clicked (ie the portfolio title) it still takes the user to the portfolio page. Is there a way round this? If not, no big deal.
I’m formerly a Studiopress user and was so reluctant to leave, but I love, love, love this theme!
That’s how it works. I’m not certain if we can work around linking the portfolio title to a certain page. By the way, let me tag the rest of the support team.
The easiest thing to do would be to take the link off the portfolio title. That’s in loop-portfolio.php in the /includes/ folder of the theme, on line 114
echo "<a href='".get_permalink()."' rel='bookmark' title='".__('Permanent Link:','avia_framework')." ".get_the_title()."'>".get_the_title()."</a>";
and change the line to look like
echo "<div class='port-title'>".get_the_title()."</div>";
The css class I just made up so you can style it.
It would be possible to change the link url as well but would require rewriting of the avia_get_link() function if you care to try its in file function-set-avia-frontend.php on line 541 – 620 in the /framework/php/ folder. Though your suggestion makes sense since if the portfolio image points to a different url, it seems logical for the title to do the same. I will send a note to Kriesi.
